“OH CRA-!!”
*EXPLOSION*
A fragmentation grenade detonated a few feet next to Jake in the ruins of a former house. He entered an old town that he had no idea was filled with raiders. The vault dweller had just gotten out of cryofreeze in vault 111 a day ago, and found himself 200 years into the aftermath of the Great War.
He was 17, but well educated and fit. His father had been in the army, and he took the time to train his son to defend himself. When the bombs fell, Jake and his family rushed into the vault. The group made it, but upon entering were tricked into cyro pods and frozen. Jake was the only one who survived upon being freed.
Only armed with a 10mm pistol, a leather pad on his left shoulder, his vault suit and Pip-boy, he had few options. The vault dweller peeped out of the opening and fired his pistol, injuring a raider who was unlucky enough to have been out in the open. Jake just kept ducking and firing his weapon. He was better trained than any of the slackers, but poorly equipped and outnumbered.
Suddenly, another grenade landed, except directly next to Jake this time. Out of instinct, the combatant sprinted out of the house, heading towards the closest cover. As he reached the halfway point, a bullet hit Jake’s left leg. He fell to the ground, dropping his pistol.
Jake reached for it, but someone kicked it away. A raider had a pipe rifle pointed right at him. “Ain’t personal, just you or me.” He said. Suddenly, three sharp blades came out of the man’s chest. He got lifted in the air, screaming in pain. and Jake saw the attacker. A deathclaw.
He recognized it from the descriptions some other people told him, but he had never actually seen one being in the wasteland only 2 days. It stood 9 to 10 feet tall. Covered in a dark green skin, with a tan underbelly. It had 2 horns, yellow eyes, and stood on two legs. He could see the brutalized corpses of the other raiders, who had been so focused on Jake they didn’t see the deathclaw’s sneak attack coming.
The raider dropped, now nothing more than a bleeding corpse. Jake looked back at the deathclaw, which had been looking at him almost calmly. It leaned down and sniffed the vault-dweller, who was simply waiting for his death. The monster’s head looked at the injured leg, then back at Jake. It gently grabbed him around the waste and carried him to eye level.
Jake couldn’t figure out what the deathclaw was doing. Was it toying with him, trying to make him think it wasn’t going to kill him, or did it have a far more sinister intent in mind?
Jake got his answer when the Deathclaw opened its jaws wide. He pulled on the reptile’s hand, trying to get out of its grip, but his leg hurt whenever it moved. The deathclaw gently brought the human’s upper body into its maw. When the head touched the throat, it gave a strong swallow, but gentle enough that it didn’t hurt Jake. Sadness filled the deathclaw, feeling the human’s terrified struggles. Jake’s head, then shoulders were inside the esophagus. Small cracks of light through the throat allowed him to see a little of the dark tube he was soon to go down and meet his painful death. The deathclaw simply kept swallowing, the human’s protests growing weaker but more frequent with each gulp. Finally, as the legs were the only thing sticking out of the throat, the deathclaw raised his head and gave a series of powerful gulps. It gave one last very audible gulp, having the feet vanish. It sighed and rubbed its claw gently over the bulge slowly moving down the chest. The deathclaw gave a growl of pleasure feeling Jake’s weight land in the stomach. It petted the bulge on the belly and made soft growls, trying to tell the human he would be alright.
Jake whimpered when the rest of his legs joined him in the dark, fleshy tube. He didn’t want to die like this, but he had no weapons to use on the deathclaw, or himself. The vault-dweller felt a gentle pressure on one of the walls, which he could only assume was his predator savoring his meal. A fleshy ring opened and passed him into the stomach. It was tight, not constricting, but tight where it was a little hard to move his arms. Jake got himself right side up and turned on his pip-boy light. He was glad to have the light as he sat down. The flesh was black and grey colored, as well as covered in saliva and some other fluids. Another rub was felt from the outside, before the deathclaw began moving.
Jake cried a bit, before finally passing out from exhaustion and his injuries.
***
The deathclaw made it to its nest in a little cave not too far from Boston. It sat down outside the entrance, taking a moment to watch to sun set for the day. As it did, the deathclaw couldn’t help but rub the human’s bulge on its belly. It felt that Jake hadn’t awoken since he fell asleep inside the stomach. Once the sun had hidden itself under the horizon, the deathclaw went inside the cave to sleep.
***
Jake woke up slowly, looking up at a cave ceiling. He became confused as he started remembering everything, including being swallowed whole by a deathclaw. Jake inspected his leg, it had stopped bleeding, but it hadn’t healed enough where it didn’t hurt to walk. He tried getting up, but stopped hearing loud stomping coming. The same deathclaw that ate him entered the cave, but stopped seeing Jake, giving what seemed like a smile. It carried a dead brahmin in its claws, and went over him. It dropped its catch in front of Jake and sat down.
The two stared at each other. Jake didn’t know what the deathclaw wanted. It looked at Jake, then the dead brahmin, then back at Jake. The reptile nudged the corpse towards him, and he finally understood. Though he didn’t want to, he reached through an open wound and pulled out a large piece of meat in his bare hands. “I can’t eat this.” He told the deathclaw, who only tilted its head in response. Jake sighed, knowing the reptile couldn’t understand him. The deathclaw thought for a moment, then gathered a large amount of wood and sticks into a pile. The claws hit a stone, creating sparks until the wood caught on fire. Jake sat there, stunned as the deathclaw grabbed his piece of meat and held it over the fire. What he didn’t know, is that the deathclaw learned a lot from observing humans from a distance. It gave back Jake’s steak once it had finished cooking.
Jake ate his steak slowly, as he watched the deathclaw. It grabbed the dead brahmin and began eating the meat off the bone. Jake forced himself to look away. The deathclaw took notice of this, and thought for a moment before moving further away and eating there. Now Jake was even more astonished that the deathclaw could have known social skills and understanding.
Jake had finished his food before the deathclaw did. Once it had, it came over to Jake and began inspecting his injured leg, seeing that it hadn’t fully healed yet. “Thanks, but I should get going.” He said while trying to stand up. The deathclaw simply picked Jake up and laid him back as he was before. “I have to go.” He protested, trying to get up again, but this time the behemoth gently pushed him down with a hand, giving a low growl as a warning. “Okay, I’ll stay.” Jake replied. The deathclaw lifted the claw and sat down, looking at Jake.
Jake decided to try to communicate with his captor, and learn from him, or her. “Are you a boy or a girl?” He asked. The deathclaw responded by gently placing a talon on Jake’s chest. He thought it was an attack at first, but then the human understood that the deathclaw was referring to his own gender, telling him that he was male. “So you’re a boy?” Jake asked. The deathclaw nodded his head, confirming that he was indeed a boy. “Jake.” He pointed to himself. “Do you have a name?” The deathclaw shook his head no. Jake thought for a moment. “Can I call you Edmond, or Ed for short? I think it’s supposed to mean protector.” The deathclaw picked Jake up and gently gave him nuzzles and licks to the face, happy with the name. Jake smiled at the affection Ed was showing. He grew less and less fearful of the deathclaw.
Edmond laid against the cave wall and set Jake on his underbelly, leaving his giant hand gently on his friend. The belly was soft, squishy, and warm. Jake found it better than anything he had ever slept on, even in his life before the war. Ed watched with a very happy smile on his face. After seeing the smile, Jake moved his hands and arms to strongly massage the belly, earning pleasurable growls from his wasteland friend. However, Jake stopped and cringed, having his ear against the belly, he could hear gurgles and groans inside as the stomach he had spent the night in digested the brahmin’s remains.
Ed looked down at Jake, curious as to way he had simply stopped rubbing his belly. Noticing Ed’s attention to him, Jake shook off the fear and continued rubbing, putting his friend back into a blissed state.
***
The rest of the day went by slowly. Edmond and Jake continued learning about each other, while having cuddle breaks that Ed would bring Jake in. In the afternoon, Jake grew a bit hungry, so Ed sent himself outside to gather fruits and vegetables. As the vault-dweller waited, he heard something approaching the cave. Jake sat up to see, expecting Ed, but instead sees a yao guai, investigating the human’s scent while ignoring the deathclaw’s. It growled ferociously and charged upon seeing Jake.
***
Ed was returning from gathering food for his friend. He found many plants he recognized as edible for humans, and also proved difficult to gather with his giant claws. The deathclaw found a basket of human things as well.
When he neared the cave, his high sense of smell detected something inside the cave with Jake. He dropped the food and sprinted on all fours, hearing a scream of pain.
***
Jake barely managed to roll away from one of the yao guai’s attacks. Unable to fight or run, Jake could only try to avoid as many of the bear’s attacks as he could. He had suffered deep slashes on his chest and right arm. The yao guai made a ferocious attack that Jake wouldn’t be able to dodge this time.
Right before it touched him, two giant green hands grabbed the bear and threw it across the cave. Edmond stood between Jake and the creature, giving a protective roar. The yao guai ignored the threat and charge at the deathclaw. Slashes were thrown, although it was clear who the victor would be. The yao guai laid dead on the cave floor within a minute.
Ed rushed over to Jake and gently picked him up with a claw. He inspected the wounds, seeing that they weren’t fatal, but did need attention. Remembering the food and trinkets, the deathclaw went outside, still cradling his injured friend. He found everything where he left them, and so Ed gathered the food and supplies in his spare claw before heading back to the cave.
While the day was close to dusk, the deathclaw laid against the cave wall, having Jake against his belly just like they were in the morning, but less cheerful. Edmond set the basket down next to Jake, hoping whatever was inside would be useful to Jake. The injured survivor searched through the basket, though it proved painful for his injuries, and found a stimpack as well as a can of purified water. He injected the stimpack into his body and drank the water. Jake then tried to get his damaged and blood stained blue jumpsuit off, but leaving the pip-boy on. Edmond saw this and helped the best he could. Once the suit came off, Jake got a roll of bandages from the basket and covered the gashes with them. The man was only wearing his underwear, but he didn’t care, and it would be easier to bandage his cuts.
After Jake had finished treating his injuries, he laid back down on Edmond’s underbelly. The food was placed near Jake on the belly. The deathclaw caringly placed his hands on his friend’s back, being gentle to not apply any harmful pressure. Jake smiled at Ed, who leaned over to give soft nuzzles and licks to his forehead. The licks reminded Ed of Jake’s wonderful taste. The creature’s stomach growled, and Jake heard it but didn’t pay any mind to it. He had gotten his taste again earlier in the day, but he couldn’t eat him safely with a full stomach full of brahmin meat, and he didn’t want to risk losing his trust. Now, his food had already finished digesting and Jake trusted him more than ever. Edmond wanted to keep his new friend safe, but he decided to ask him first.
Jake heard Edmond growl to get his attention. The deathclaw licked his lips and rubbed the top half of his underbelly with a claw, then tapped on his belly that Jake was on twice with a clawed finger. Jake immediately knew what this meant. The boy made weak struggles under the hands while injured. “No, please don’t.” He begged. Ed brought the terrified boy up to his chest and gave nuzzles to help calm him. The deathclaw completely understood Jake’s fear. The boy then relaxed in the soft grip, and reached up to hug Edmond’s neck.
Edmond suddenly remembered something and carried Jake outside. The vault-dweller wondered where his friend was taking him. Edmond exited the cave and sat down to watch the sunset like he did every evening. Jake looked over to watch it as well. Even with the ruined buildings and landscapes, it was quite beautiful to look at.
Once the light vanished, Edmond went back inside and lied down again. Jake had still been hugging the friendly deathclaw the whole time. He trusted Edmond, and decided to return the favor. His friend had done nothing but keep him safe and let, or force him to stay to let his injuries heal. Jake saw no reason that Ed would harm him.
“Ed,” Jake said. Ed looked down at him. “I trust you. You can eat me if you like, just please go slow and let me out when I want to.” Edmond smiled wide, gently hugging Jake a little tighter and licked the side of his face. He picked the boy up, treating his body with care as if he were one of his own eggs. The deathclaw gave his face one last nuzzle, before holding his body horizontally and that his feet were facing his maw.
The deathclaw’s jaws opened wide, letting the tongue come out to lick Jake’s bare feet. Edmond growled in pleasure and slowly set the legs in the mouth. Jake leaned up and held onto the muzzle, making eye contact with his friend. The reptile had been drooling a little, getting so much more of Jake’s taste without his jumpsuit on. Part of Edmond wanted to swallow down his morsel as fast as possible, another wanted to savor the taste for a while, but the rest wanted to bring him in gently and caringly in concern over his fear and injuries. The predator used his tongue to bring the legs to the throat and swallowed gently. Jake could tell how gentle Edmond was being to help ease his fear and injuries. Still, the beast couldn’t help but enjoy his friend, rubbing his tongue over the skin. When most of his legs entered the pulsating throat, Jake had to lean back, but his hands still held onto the snout. Ed then held his back up with a hand so he could relax and stay clear of the teeth. After making a bigger swallow that pulled Jake up to his chest, Ed ceased using his hand, and the boy let go of the snout. Jake began growing more nervous, as the encasing throat neared his shoulders, his heart beat like a drum. Ed could feel the anxiety and stopped swallowing, giving some soft growls to help reassure him everything would be alright. Jake calmed down and petted the throat flesh. “Thanks buddy, you can keep going.” He told his gentle and gracious predator. The deathclaw tilted his head up and made the final two swallows, sending Jake on his short and fleshy journey. Jake managed to reach his pip-boy and turn the light on, illuminating everything in a bright green light. Ed voluntarily stopped the esophagus’s motions and rubbed over Jake’s bulged to make absolutely sure that he was doing alright. “I’m doing fine buddy.” The boy said softly from inside the beast, before continuing down the tube.
Jake passed through a ring and slid into the stomach, not with fear this time, but comfort and safety. Jake felt…
Safe
In a radioactive wasteland filled with mutant creatures, super mutants, and murderous gangs of people, Jake felt safe. Inside a friend who wanted to both protect him from harm, and comfort him whenever he had the slightest negative feeling.
Jake laid back as much as possible and snuggled against the walls. “Ed, thanks for saving me buddy. Thanks for keeping me… safe. Thanks for… *sob* everything…” Jake began crying, unable to find the words to express his thankfulness. Edmond caringly rubbed over the bulge and Jake hugged the walls where the pressure came from. Outside, a small tear fell down the deathclaw’s face. Edmond laid down, hand on his belly, and sniffed the air for anything that might be a threat to his friend.
The two friends soon fell into a blissful sleep.
***
Edmond woke up early in the morning, before dawn even showed. Still keeping Jake sleeping sound in his belly, he grabbed the basket with some things leftover and the broken vault jumpsuit. The deathclaw began traveling to his old home, the one place where Jake could be completely safe in the wasteland. His sanctuary.
Another story I wrote a while ago, keep people busy while I work on the text adventure. I love Fallout 4 and making a story off it was pretty fun.

Outside, a small tear fell down the deathclaw’s face. Edmond laid down, hand on his belly, and sniffed the air for anything that might be a threat to his friend.
The two friends soon fell into a blissful sleep.
