Exactly, and this is where most Christians get it wrong. Nothing a Christian says or does can save anyone. All they can do is present the truth. From there, it is the choice of the individual on what to do with it.

If a professing christian acts like they can save people, it's a pretty good indication they don't actually understand what they claim to believe.

Your last line describes what the average Christian calls a "baby" Christian. One that was just saved or converted and thinks they have to show off and do a whole bunch of things.

At one church I've been at, this lady was proud that she was banned from Wal-Mart for trying to profess to people INSIDE the store. She also loved to get in people's personal space to tell them all about God. Essentially forcing the issue. Usually people ignored her. I'd say that she had been saved for maybe 2-3 years.
