Actually, yes it is. With the costs of everything going up and majority of wages being less than $10 above minimum wage (meaning wages are not going up to cover said costs), most people still live paycheck-to-paycheck, and as such have increasing difficulty to save up and afford purchases such as art commissions.

Oui c'est bien ce que je me disais aha! Mais délivré comme tu dis de simple sketch en animation c'est ouf que les gens en demande autant ! ( de mon coté je fais des choses clean et coloré mais il y a moins de demande )
Des fois je comprend pas les clients aha ! Mais c'est super que tu es autant de visibilité comme ça! ( surtout si on compte le peu d'artiste qui produise de l'animation sur FA

I'm still amazed you started out with $50 to begin with :P these gradual price hikes are very well deserved considering the amount of work you put into your animations

I wish u also had a list for commissions ;~; not everyone can always attend the streams and u fill up so fast xD

It's just better to have the commissioner on the stream so they can point out mistakes or give their opinion on how the commission is coming along. Besides, I tried a system where people booked their spot the day before the stream and it was kind of a mess because all slots would be taken within minutes. In stream raffles seem to be the most fair approach for the time being.

A few seem to use this raffle sytem too. seems not as bad. but trying to attempt the stream due time differences for example makes it harder for others...
Maybe you got a main list for in stream and a smal off-stream list asside for those not able to attempt stream. works like the raffle in-stream too.

Heh, and for the rising price "I got more demands. how to reduce them....? Hmmmmmmm..." xD

As a business major, I support you raising prices until you can comfortably meet your normal demand. Maybe slightly lower than that, just so you always have some slack demand. Good on you for charging more, though! Gotta make money for your time, and you do awesome work!

Seriously though, finding the equilibrium of demand to price and what works for you and your financial needs is tricky and takes some figuring out, kudos to doing what ya need to do!

I'm also all for finding that equilibrium, but all too often I see artists "solving" the balance by jacking up their prices.
($10 isn't even a hike, however 😆)

Is there some alternative way to 'solve' an abundance of demand at prices that still leave one in relative poverty? Only thing I can think of is folks doing bunches of "merch" style things like artpacks and whatnot, but those are pretty hit or miss and take a lot of upfront time!

This happened to a friend.

Another friend was yelling at her for weeks to raise her damn prices until she accepted to raise his prices and now she finally live on the drawings.
