Yep. But kinda they are same. Poke- and Digi- ending to -mon word. And there is peoples who control monsters in both series.

Only a little though, as apposed to Inuyasha, which seems to make a million references to PKMN without noticing. (Inuyasha's storyline, Miroku's behavior, Kirara/Kilala's Looks, etc)
