One of the scheduled events on the last day of "Megaplex 2009" was an "Artist's Jam" - where many attending anthroartist's got to draw something pertaining to the theme of this year's 'furry con', "Toyland: Christmas in July"...
Well, believe it or not, I never got to participate, as I was thoroughly engrossed in that multi-hour session of playing "Apples to Apples". (See my 'live journal', "Megaplex... And/Or Bust!") But I did manage to start a mini-Artist's Jam of my own, of which I was only able to get three other anthroartist's involved: Kelvin the Lion, Chilly Mouse, and Alchera. I hope to present the original B&W version of said mini-jam in a future posting...
In the meantime, I thought I'd present my contribution to that project. Rather than draw my 'fursona' in the obligatory Santa suit, I'd decided to recreate myself in the form of another recognizable holiday icon: the title character of the classic story "The Nutcracker" (with the wrong kind of 'nut' in his mouth)! I've added color through my Paint.Net program (without incident, this time). Enjoy!

Yeowch! Wrong type of nut there dear spotted kitty That's gonna be a major dental bill your gonna get after you crack that (more like crack your jaw, eeep). Well, I can always rubberize you and fix your teeth, much easier. But then you'd be stuck being rubber toyish till the day you pop. I can live with it^^ Now let's see about those teeth my poor Nutcracker! *gets the clamp and tooth-extractor* >8D
PS: "The Nutcracker" is my fave ballet

It was first a story, entitled "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" written by E. T. A. Hoffman in 1816. The reason we today all know it is thanks to Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, who composed the famous ballet "The Nutcracker" based off the story in 1892. There have been many classical retellings of this wonderful story, however I have my favourite in a Russian cartoon, you might enjoy here:

Hehe, in this version the Mouse King is quite portly, and his belly bulges a great deal out in front of him, so much that the royal garments he wears seems ridiculously overstretched.
Now, in a few versions of the tale the 'Mouse King' is called the 'Rat King'. This occured as the tale spread across Europe, due to translation errors, and the general classification of all rodents as 'vermin'. Villages, peoples, the choice is individual. I myself have always liked thinking of a 'Rat King', because rats seem more sinister to me (probably due to "The Secret of N.I.M.H."). But however way you put it, he's usually always seen as portly, and with three heads. Three times the eating in only one stomach would make even scrawny me all the plumper
Hope this wasn't too much info, hehe
