In the mid 1950's the Mai'No'Tian government ordered the CDA to replicate, test, and modify existing human tanks. One vehicle chosen was the Chrysler Defense M-48-A3 Patton III used by the United States. After testing, evaluation, and modifications the CDA rolled out the MBT-53 "Super Patton". Though maintaining much of its original form, extensive internal and some external differences were made. Such as the hull and turrets were recast for more internal room and better armor characteristics, the 90mm T54 Gun was enlarged to 100mm and the muzzle brake was redesigned to deflect fumes away from the gunner's sight. The main turret was given composite armor all around and an extra 15mm HMG was added in front of the loaders hatch (represented by a modified Browning M2HB 12.7mm HMG) and also given a periscope. The commanders coupola/ turret was given a large upgrade in both defensive and offensive capabilities with more armor and the replacement of the 12.7mm with 2 15mm HMGs with a sight in between the guns, while the Co-Axial Rock Island Arsenal 7.62mm M-73 was replaced by a 20mm AC. The front of the hull was given composite armor and behind that in front of the driver was a small amount of spaced armor of three plates each 75mm thick spaced 25mm apart, the driver was also given a detachable 7.5mm LMG that could be fired from a fixed pivot mount on the hull or through a small port at the front on an internal ball mount. The engine was upgraded to a Diesel-Electric Drive producing 980hp for speeds of 50km/h off-road. The extra weight called for a stiffer suspension, the original horizontal dual torsion bars were replaced with a quadruple triangular style (three bars forming a equallateral triangle with one more bar in the middle.
