Later, at the Rabbitfangs house, after introductions have been made.
Kat has left Dee with Liane and Molly for them to show her around a little and keep her company while Kat tends to a personal errand for a few minutes.
Molly: Dee, I couldn't help but notice this odd marking on your hand when Kat introduced us. Is it a birthmark or what?
Dee: Um...marking? What marking?
*Liane and Molly both take Dee's left arm, turn it so the palm points upward, and Molly traces the outline of
the marking with her finger*
Molly: This one, Dee. No joking now. Please don't tell me it's new!
Dee: I...*looks puzzled* ....I'm sorry, but yes, I never noticed it before. What does it mean? Kat said you're
sorceress, so you must know.
*Liane leans in to look closely at Dee's palm, then begins to speak in a creaky, old woman's voice with an odd accent*
Liane: My son, you wear the sign of THE PENTAGRAM!!!! *goes back to her normal voice*
Sorry I'm bad about quoting lines from old movies, but I'm dead serious about the Pentagram. This is really new?
Dee: *quaveringly* Y..yes. What does it mean?
Molly: Dee, did Kat ever bite you? She did, didn't she?
Dee: No! Not a real bite anyway. She kinda gave me a goodbye kiss and nipped my neck when we parted at the food court the day we met. It wasn't what I'd call a bite though. More like....I don't know....just a peck sort of.
Molly: But it bled, didn't it? She drew blood. I know she did.
Dee: Just a tiny bit, yes, but it didn't hurt or anything. I thought it felt good. *blushing now* I liked it.
Molly: Hmmph.....yes, I guess you would have. But damnit, Kat should have been more careful. *turns to Liane* Mom! Haven't you taught Kat about what happens when a werewolf bites a normal person?
Liane: *blushing too, now* Crap! I guess I thought that it wouldn't be so strong with her only being half were. I've been so busy teaching her how to be careful about her vampire side that I never considered her were side.
Dee: VAMPIRE SIDE!?!?!? What are you talking about? *her lower lip starts to tremble* She told me she is half werewolf and half rabbit. But...but....she's a vampire too?
Liane: Oh, my! Now I've REALLY let the cat out of the bag, haven't I? Yes dear, haven't you noticed our fangs? *touches the point of one of her fangs with a fingertip* I'm a vampire rabbit, and all my children are vampires too. In Kat's case, since her father is a werewolf, Kat is half and half. Though it's a little soon to tell which half is dominant for sure, but judging from her looks and temperament, I'd say the werewolf side is. I DO hope all this doesn't frighten you! You aren't in any danger, I promise. But to go by that pentagram that just appeared on your palm and the fact you transformed spontaneously, I think Kat has turned you. The only question is in what way she's turned you.
Dee: Oh NO! I can't help it. This is so confusing and I'm SCARED!! *tears begin to roll down her cheeks and she tilts her head back and howls her frustrated fear to the world* Where's Kat? I need to know what's happened to me and I WANT KAT! KAT! I NEED YOU! WHERE ARE YOU?

Maybe it's just because I'm half asleep already, but this one made me tear up a little. I mean, I know Dee's going to be fine, and there's no one better to guide her through this that Liane and Molly, but her reaction at the end just tugs at the heart. Poor kid. And finding out your girlfriend is not only a werewolf but a vampire, too, and that she has changed your life forever with just one little nip has to be a lot to swallow. I just want to give the poor pup the biggest hug and comfort her. But I think I'll leave that to Kat. If anyone can make Dee feel better about what has happened, I'd imagine she could.
I really do like this picture, too. I've been looking forward to seeing what would happen when Dee found out more about Kat's unique heritage and the explanation for the pentagram on her palm is definitely an interesting one as well. The art is gorgeous, too! (And my goodness, I had either forgotten or never realized that Liane lives in a palace! I'm gonna have to come crash at your place more often!
(Also, hooray for Salty remembering Molly's bunny shaped spot. I think almost every artist I've commissioned to draw her has either forgotten it or found some way to cover it up.)

I like to think that your tearing up a bit means I'm doing it right. Sorry about that, Megan, but it's exactly the reaction I was aiming for. If you were there, I think big bunnyhug from you would be most welcome by Dee and probably do her a world of good!

You're definitely doing it right, then. That story hits home so hard! And yet it's really kind of sweet in its own way, since we know Dee really is in the best of all possible company for easing her transition into, well, whatever she shall become. I know she'll be just fine, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she ended up liking her new self at least as much as her old one, if not more. But any time she wants a soft bunny hug, she only ever has to ask. And Kat, too, for that matter, because I can't she'd ever upset Dee like this on purpose.
To be honest, I don't think I've ever actually seen the film. I've always meant to, but when it comes to horror movies I tend to focus more on zombies than werewolves. Shame on me!

Ah, I'm really glad to hear that. I originally was going to have it stop at a point where things were just kind of up in the air, but at the last second....just as I was posting this, decided to let Dee show some real emotion. I mean she's going through one hell of a lot for someone who just days ago was a carefree boy out trying to pick up girls in the local mall. Of course Kat didn't do it on purpose. I'm sure she was just giving Dee a sweet goodbye for now with a hint of how she might feel about him.
You know that everyone in this family loves you to bits and would be happy and honored to snuggle with you. A little bit or a lot. Your choice. Even Molly. And you might be surprised at how much time Molly and Deborah spend here. I keep telling them they don't need to keep an apartment elsewhere, but I guess they don't want to actually live with mom. Just spend plenty of time here. He he...the food is free and good and they can get all the privacy they want. I don't even have cameras in the peepholes into their suite. What more could they ask?
I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid. Maybe even pre-teen. But I saw all the old monster movies from the 40s on watching late night tv. Friday night was monster night on one of the local stations in LA, and I seldom missed it. they played all the great ones. Dracula, Wolf Man, The Mummy movies, Mothra, King Kong, Godzilla and even the losers which were really as much fun to watch as the good ones cause they were so funny. Oddly enough though, there were hardly any zombie movies. Zombies didn't come into vogue till much later, after I was gone and had quit watching TV.

I think you did just right. While I hate to see her upset, I think having her show some real emotion like that makes the story so much stronger, and feels more realistic. Even when things turn out okay, and you know they will, well, that's a huge adjustment and it would be kind of scary for anyone. Besides, her wanting to see Kat at the end really helps to emphasize how close they've become, I think, and how much Dee trusts her already. So you did great!
Aw, I know, and I really should hang out with you guys more! And snuggle! Lots of snuggles! Even Molly! Though, funny thing, the girls spend a lot of time at my place, too. Must be the free food, like you say. I don't have any cameras on them, either. Those are allll for you, darlin'.
Aw, I'd have loved to have had access to a channel like that. I don't remember any of the channels we had access to when I was a kid showing even more modern horror films on anything like a regular basis, even around Halloween. I love those old classics, though, even the cheesy ones. I'm a huge fan of the giant bug films like The Deadly Mantis and Them! and perhaps especially the first few Godzilla films where he was actually meant to be a threat. I don't think zombie became much of a thing until Night of the Living Dead in '68, followed by the increase in films in the 70s and 80s.

Thank you. I DO feel badly about doing that to her, but it just seemed necessary for the story . It felt right. Bad but right, ya know? And yes. Her yelling for Kat kind of redeems it in a way by letting you know that the feelings are deep , no matter that they have only known each other for a short time.

We were really lucky that way. I don't remember his name, but there was a guy who hosted those Friday night movies for quite a while and then Elvira took over. Elvira rocked. It was worth watching just to see her and her cheesy little play acting to supplement the movies!

Oh I Fully agree! Such Drama and Suspense are sometimes Necessary to keep the story both interesting and to make the characters feel more Three Dimensional.

A very interesting mix to say the least! It is common for canines to give each other love nips... Scott and Patties mated wolves would bite each others neck ruff when they were being affectionate to each other... The down side was they would do it to the humans they liked too, so you get wolf kisses and mouthed a lot. I saw it as, Kat doing what her instincts were telling her. Yes she did forget to take into account her nature of being.

Yep. It just came naturally to her. Her being part vampire might be an influence also. Everybody in my family likes to do some neck nipping. ;3
I'm not even sure Kat was aware that a werewolf bite could cause changes to the one bitten. It obviously wasn't on her mind if she was.

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said except that this just breaks my heart. It's one of the saddest things I've ever seen from you, and the story really drives it home. Dee's fear and loneliness in this one particular instance is beautifully realized and I just wanna give her the biggest hug and tell her it's going to be okay.
It's an interesting glimpse into your world, though, and it's kinda nice to know that Kat's werewolf status isn't just something cosmetic. I'm glad to know that she has so many kind and wonderful people to help look after her and ease her into this new part of her life. And help her think of a way to explain things to Mom and Dad.

I don't go for sad stuff often, but somehow it just seemed so natural that Dee would be terribly frightened at this point. I mean here you have a normal kid who probably never even imagined that magic, werewolves and vampires actually existed and suddenly his life is turned totally upside down and he....now she.....finds that her new girlfriend is not only a werewolf AND a vampire, but has changed HER into something else also. Who wouldn't be shocked and need some reassurance?

As to Dee's parents.....There I'm not so sure things will end happily. I haven't got that part figured out yet, to be honest. But I can see a few different ways of handling it, ranging from a way to make them happy and reunited with with their 'son' to Dee disappearing from their lives totally and leaving them bereft. It may depend on my mental state when the time comes to write it.

Oh, it makes total sense. Dee's world has already been turned upside down enough with her accidental sex change, and now this! I think anyone would be scared and upset and it's a beautifully realized scene. I hope what I said didn't sound at all negative. I love art that makes me feel, whether it's happy or sad or anything else. It is really nice to know that she has so many people to help her and love her, too, though. And whatever might happen with Dee and her parents, I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here and how she adapts to her newfound status. Who knows, maybe she'll even find she enjoys it once the shock wears off.

I took what you said as high praise, Grace, and appreciate it very much! I am so glad it engages your emotions. That's what I'm aiming for as well as a good story.Most of my pictures are just fun little moments in time. I want the story of Kat and Dee to have some substance to it and I'm working for that. I may not be a writer like Megan, but I can visualize a story and tell it to some extent through pictures and dialogue. I hope I can keep their story going and interesting for some time to come.

You might not write stories and novels like she does, but I'd say you're every bit the story-teller she is! All of your pictures are very substantial, I'd say. You've got a whole world built up and characters with on-going stories and personalities and everything. The only real difference I see between what you've done with Dee and Kat and the rest is that they have more immediately interlocking images. But I think you do a great job with story telling and I think you're doing an amazing job with these!
I've never had any doubt that things will work out okay in the end. If they go through rough patches, that's all part of life and growing as a person. I may cry with them and regret it when they have to go through bad things, but I'm looking forward to all of it, and seeing how their story plays out in good times and in bad. I know that, ultimately, it's all in the service of a wonderful story.

Thank you so much, Grace! I does me a lot of good to know that I'm reaching you and others with my story. It's funny how so many ideas and scenes play out in my mind for these two when they both just began as whims and in Dee's case likely to be the subject of just one 4-5 panel story. But they wouldn't let me stop there. These two have gotten under my skin. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one interested in them as people who live real lives and not just characters to pose for fun.

Y'know, I haven't said anything yet about Kat and her were changes and the full moon. And she's the one that made Dee a were. One (or both) might just influence the other.

What husband? I never married the lout! In fact he tricked me into this. It started as me scratching his belly for him, then turned into a wrestling match and the next thing I knew he'd mounted me and it was too late to escape! I think he had it planned from the start, personally. I'm delighted with Kat though, so absolutely no regrets!!
