Sock puppet romantic gesture, perhaps the move for someone rather shy about admitting their feelings towards the purple-haired cat, maybe only truly feeling confident in social situations utilising their sock puppet to 'speak for them' and being rather quirky with it. The cat maybe expected something like that but he wasn't expecting something like this, though maybe later there will be bondage games and another use found for socks in the form of improvised gags or maybe tying hands or feet.
