After getting suited up, Rabbit made his way to his post when he ran into Ghost, his oldest and best friend. Rabbit barely got to see him much as Ghost was frequently out on mission. The exchanged their usual banter on who was sleeping with who.
Ghost: "So still sleeping with that older feline woman?"
Rabbit: "Maybe. You still seeing that crazy wolf lady you secretly married and didn't tell your folks about?"
Rabbit had heard of Ghost's tale how after helping liberate some slaves he got separated from his team and ended up in the company of a nomadic wolf tribe. The leader a very strong and demanding wolfess named Lady Red. The two spent the night together and she claimed him as her mate and husband, much to Ghost's disapproval to start. But she didn't keep him from his life, only just visiting her often as possible a term Ghost could live with.
As the two headed for the Great Gate, Rabbit had to ask his old friend a question.
Rabbit: "Is all this extra security necessary? Any group would be a fool to attack the most fortified location in Inthoria."
Ghost: "True, but with the King and Princess coming here we can't exactly let our guards down. Look really bad for us if they were killed here. Besides....I heard the princess is pretty cute, maybe you should try using that charm of yours on her."
Ghost giving Rabbit another nudge with his elbow.
Rabbit: "Funny. But when have you ever known me to be into human girls."
They both laughed and continued to the small garrison next to the Great Gate.
