One of the original pictures ever drawn of Lai. A simple drawing with simple elements, and probably even simpler elements. I think the hardest part of drawing over the years is what I see now, that could have been done then. This was done around 2001-2002.
Also, I think I was going for giving the "peace" sign, but almost died trying to figure out how to do it with two fingers and a thumb. You can probably see here, too, that this is one of the original pics featuring Lai's "deedly-bobs" and three prongs of hair on the brow.

I honestly, have no idea. It was created as a spur of the moment thing, where I decided some ten years ago that I needed something "Chinese-sounding." Evidently, "lai" is a verb in the Chinese script (not sure if it's Mandarin or otherwise) that means "to come (as in from a place)." That's about all that I know.
That's about what i found in the chinese dictionary too. That may be it. I asked because I used to work for a chinese couple and the woman's name was Lai. I thought it was a pretty name so I wondered what it might mean. I'm confident it has another meaning. My understanding of chinese is limited but I do know that with the mere inflection of how the word is said it changes the meaning. Tang for example might get you soup or sugar. I'll keep sniffing araound and let you know if i find anything. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
