Recent photo taken by my husband as I was slowly accumulating my Riyoko ensemble. Unfortunately, I forgot to put on several items at the time of the photo.
Missing from photo but not costume: Common Raven skull cast that attaches to necklace, rabbit fur on arms, rabbit fur on wing straps.
It's hard to see, but I am wearing red cat's eye contacts.
Necklace made from actual ribs.
Shirt is soft deer hide tied with leather cord.
Skirt over shorts is faux coyote over deer leather.
Boots are black suede that lace up.
Horns are held by a leather headpiece and cord.
I've been piecing this together to debut at Denver Comic Con 2018 and the Colorado Renaissance Festival. The wings are from The Crooked Feather and completely spread to 12ft and every position in between. These are one of her heaviest pairs made and weigh about 25lbs.

Julie, you would not believe what I'm about to say but I was behind you on the escalator entering Denver Comic-Con today! Storm and I are visiting from the UK for the first time in four years because we love Colorado (at our first con ever), and I saw this girl in this impressive costume with beautiful maroon wings - I had seen this picture back when you posted it and thought "looks like Riyoko", and was pretty sure it was you... we crossed paths eventually and sure enough it really looked like your face! After getting home and double checking this picture, we're both 1000% sure it was you.
What are the chances of that? I am shitting myself at this right now. I can't believe I didn't think to say something! But I thought there was no way that would happen... I hope you had a nice time, those wings were easily the most impressive costume piece I saw all day!

After wearing them all day on Friday I took them off for Saturday to give my shoulders a break, then wore them again on Sunday. The ensemble definitely received the success I was hoping for. I'll probably load another photo or two of my favorites taken.

We only stayed for a few days, then drove to Vegas and saw the GC, then drove from southern CA to northern CA, going through Yosemite (first time for both of us - it was amazing). But by far the most mind-blowing thing on our holiday for me was realising just how incredibly statistically unlikely it would have been for us to find ourselves directly behind you (a person we found quite randomly online but who turned out to be lovely) at our first ever con, overseas from our home, during a visit many years in the making! And I wouldn't have even recognised you if I hadn't seen this picture a few days before, so I could have easily never have known if things had been different. Pretty crazy to think about.
Those wings do look like they would have been exhausting for your back and shoulders!
