i don't get what the big deal is with Haida. it's not like he's kinna cute, or kinna charming, or seems like the nice kinna guy that has your back, or boyfriend material. i just don't see it. totally not in denial

I've seen him a lot on twitter and here too and I know where he's from. I definitely will admit the way you drew him was quite cute. I think it's nice despite the style change your kept his under bite and made it even more pronounced in the head shot. I love how you do lighting, it's so beautiful especially on the clothes, with all those intricate details, do you have any tips to placing lighting? I'd love to know, it looks super cool and it especially makes the texture look more like a type of leather. If you feel like it, you should definitely try doing one of your characters or even Nukude in a swashbuckling pirate type outfit. I think all the details and just seeing how you'd approach that would be super cool to see.
the only tips of lighting aside from trying to imagine a light source would just be to think about what that light source would hit, like a raised wrinkle, or something in the way like an arm or a fold, then trying to think about where the shadow would rest. i still need work on placing them but practice is practice, hope that helps any
Oh thank you very much! ;w; that is helpful! Errmm.. I don't mean to be a pain, but.. what about for different materials? Anything you'd recommend in terms of how to shine them or knowing how to shine different materials? (this is really useful information, so thank you very much!)
the only thing i can think of is to look at references and see how reflective a given material can be, like in some cases when you look at leather it shines really brightly, almost white. whereas cloth can be more saturated, or they can reflect other colors, or silk-like cloths can have a subtle sheen.. it can be really complicated, at least for me still, but references is the best way to go
Do you have to look up references for stuff like that often or have you got to a point, where you don't need to? Or at least very rarely, either way I think it makes a lot of sense to do it that way. I see I mean I can at least say I think you're doing a good job and I definitely appreciate the advice I really do want to better myself, even if it's just for myself. I will definitely try doing that more, again thank you!
it never hurts to look up references no matter how familiar you've gotten with something, just to get a refresher if one needs it. i dont really look them up enough but only because i kind of have an okay memory of how i think they look, but i do look them up if i really feel like im not getting the look down
