It seems just about anything I do tends to happen in 30 minute intervals. I'm a bit proud of how this came out within that time. In my latest comics I'm spending just as much time on the backgrounds as I am the characters and foreground and its very fun with this style. I just kind of pick a framework and then GO.

Not sure what standards you mean. Then again I haven't looked at my old backgrounds in a while. I just know that "gen 1" comic backgrounds were 100% ass, and "gen 2/renn faire" comic backgrounds had some kind of substance to them. (aka actually trying)
Probably depends on my mood. Right now that thought sounds a bit restrictive if I tried to go this geometric style you speak of.
