Blitz waited in his cell with all the others. They were gathered like sardines, all in individual cells sized for at best large dogs, and all nude as the day they were born. Blitz being as large as he was had felt unbelievably cramped in his, and had no end of expletives to spout to the guards who didn't seem to pay attention to him or his fellow captured friends. They were heroic types that had come by the droves to defeat Kauko, and so far everyone had lost to her. So far she's made examples of some, tortured others, and made a few into statues for her amusement. Blitz knew this, because he, like everyone else trapped in their small cages, were made to watch as Kauko either personally performed or delegated these acts of torture and amusement to happen. Blitz didn't think these were his fate, but whatever it was he was as of yet unaware. "Hey..." Blitz summoned up what mana he could, and conjured a bolt of raw lightning from within his cell. It burst through the cage bars and ran up and down the rubberized form of his prison block's guard. "Hey! I have a question! When are we going to end this? I'm beyond cramped from my cell, and I demand to see your vile queen!" The guard did not answer. It was a faceless rubberized looking dragon, and for the past 5 days since Blitz was squeezed into his cage whenever he asked the dragon guard anything it said nothing. "Damn rubber... I swear I will escape from here. I will unveil the horrors of rubber to the world." Everyone else of the dozen or so Blitz was locked inside tiny cages with in his block had already given up, but Blitz hadn't.
*BONG* For the first time in 5 days the rubber dragon guard turned toward Blitz's cage. "Come." It said through its faceless void. "It is ready for you."
Blitz was pulled out from his cage unfettered and confused. His entire block of prisoners were taken and made to file into a single line. "No magic." A guard said. "If you cast magic, you will be punished. Come." Blitz and everyone else he walked with moved in single file somewhat obediently. A straggler stood his ground and readied a flash of fiery magic, and the whole of the group saw as tiny hat wearing spiders fell from the shadows to quickly cocoon that person and drive them into submission. Even unfettered, Blitz knew escape wasn't currently an option.
"So where are we going?" Blitz asked, and got no reply.
"Dude shush...it's over. Give up like the rest of us." A dejected canine prisoner said behind Blitz. "Kauko's pretty much taken over the whole realm. I'm betting we're being taken to be turned into rubber drones or slaves." The canine sighed and hung his head low. "
"You may be ready to give up, but not all of us are." Blitz said looking over his shoulder.
Down they were marched through flight after flight of stairs and into the deepest section of the castle. It looked like giant gears and pipes and waterways and tunnels, the castle sewers. "Take them down to the conversion chamber!" Kauko's voice bellowed from a high perch that echoed over itself in the cavernous chamber." Blitz and the others were lead to a grated landing where giant serpentine heads loomed high above them, open mouthed and dripping a black ichor from their stony maws. The guards retreated, leaving Blitz and everyone else standing naked and confused.
Up above the gathered mass Kauko stood and glared down with red eyes and a confident grin on her face. Her tight rubber covered body squeaked as she turned to face her loyal (if mind controlled) alchemist. "So which one should I be watching again?"
"The dragon my lady, a lightning mage that spiked on the charts. He may be the key to the next conversion step. How to take drone rubber and make it something more, something purer." The alchemist smiled and checked his papers again.
"Good...then let us watch and see what happens."
Down below Blitz had gotten fed up, and unlike his fellow prisoners who'd all but given in, he summoned forth whatever power he could and began to spark lightning. "Damn you and your rubber! I will not be made a-"
*splash* A glob of black ichor fell from the serpents mouth and landed on Blitz and the rest. Blitz felt himself lifted, transformed into another life and another age. As if he was a billion miles away...
He was a noble of high birth, a great dragon patriarch with power yet powerless to lead himself or his people to prosperity. All the power Blitz had did not stop the plagues that destroyed his people, his name and the species of dragon. They were dying, as was the world, and nothing stopped the ravages of age and decay that took his pride and joy from him. One day a sorcerer came to them though, and explained the cause of their sickness was a lack of defense. Through rubbermancy, the sorcerer explained, Blitz could save everyone. They would be immortal, unassailable, invincible. All it took was a sacrifice of ownership, to let the rubber take them. To let the rubber rob them of silly notions like freedom and agency, and if they could do that Blitz himself would become infinitely more and so would his dragons. "All I must do..." He said, lost in his haze, "Is love rubber."
Blitz agreed, and the sorcerer spread latex and rubbermancy all across his people, and indeed they were transformed. It felt good, better than anything the dragon had ever felt. It was tight, but freeing, warm, yet cold, pleasing, yet demanding. Blitz had no words for what rubbermancy did for himself and the people around him that he saw prosper, but he had gratitude. The shine, as he came to know it in time, was the best thing that ever happened to him. He had to share it, he needed to. That was Blitz's goal from this moment on.
"I love the shine... I love rubber." Blitz said as he was drawn back to the here and now. His form was nearly now fully covered in tight rubber. He flexed his claws and delighted at the squeak between each finger. "Mmmm-" He twisted his hips and felt the material cling and squeeze around his midsection. "Oh yes...I love the shine. I must spread it, I must share it." The final glob of liquid rubber fell from the serpent's maw and fully enclosed Blitz in a full suit of latex. Around him Blitz saw everyone else struggling, fighting it, battling the rubber that was transforming them into mindless drones to be used. He stood alone, though he knew not why.
"Hello my first true acolyte." Kauko said approaching Blitz on the platform. "It is as I was told, you are the first of a new breed. We must uncover how the drone rubber did this to you, and make more of you. Other's must be made to know the enjoyment latex. Wouldn't you agree?"
"Oh yes..." Blitz said, kneeling in servitude. "I must spread the shine. The shine is everything..."
