Fun-fact: Gladiators where trained to be non-lethal. They never really fought to the death with any death that would occur being most often by accident.
The funny part is that particularly favored Gladiators would actually have endorsement deals outside of the arena. They where pretty much the Celebrity athletes of the old world!!
