This is the second of three submissions that will mark the one week run up to my first year anniversary here on FA. Today will be a historical retrospective.
I officially joined FA on September 3rd, 2008. However, I had been a watcher for well over a year before that. Even then, I had been gradually immersing myself in the culture starting back in the summer of 2006 through viewing the works of whom I later learned were mjbear, iedino, tacki, and azuredragon.
So how did I find FA? Actually, I have tavimunk to thank for that. I happened upon one of his pics while drifting on DA and, upon viewing his profile, I discovered a link to his FA page. FA was not only a much more open site to the style of work that I favor, but also many times more friendly to the accessibility options that I run in order to operate a computer. These two elements made me an instant fan of the site.
I was quite content just viewing from afar until shortly after I was terminated from my job. Many negative events surrounded my release, which made me begin to really doubt myself as a person. It was at this time that I recalled having read through a number of remarks made by mjbear. He was creative and seemed to have a lot of fun sharing who he was through his work. Eager to shake off the horrible feelings left behind from my recent experiences, I took the plunge and signed on to FA with the hopes of rekindling that inner spark that I felt I was on the verge of losing forever.
My first submission was of a character I lovingly called Baby Yoshi. Not too original, but he really didn’t need a complicated name to be the cute little guy that he was. You can view this piece by going to http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1520495/.
My next goal was to reach out to those artists to whom I had long watched, but never commented to since I was not a member at the time. This lead me to make my only double-favorite with respect to a piece done by tacki featuring iedino that can be found at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1503058/.
Shortly after this, I got my first shout from tacki and met my first friend, fatherfalcon. Through fatherfalcon, I got to discover an array of other amazing artists through our mutual interest in Neopets. These include the very talented syntex and jg-riddle.
As time passed, I got more confident with who I was again by interacting with all the great artists I was able to discover thanks to fatherfalcon. It wasn’t long before I finally got the chance to catch up with mjbear and thank him for how he had been the one to convince me, without him knowing it, on joining FA.
Through my adventures here none stand out more than my meeting with nishi and wingedhamham. I’ve always been a huge Hamtaro fan and, when I met Ham-Ham, I couldn’t help but want to get to know her more. Our discussions resulted in three major accomplishments that would not have ever been possible without her. First, and foremost, is that she was the brilliant mind behind the duck / yoshi hybrid that my character is. Second, her written works inspired me to collaborate with her later on the delightful story, Love & Friendship. Finally, if those weren’t enough, I likely would not have ever met nishi without her. His Oxnard avatar that appeared on her shouts section cried out for me to see what he was all about and, well, I couldn’t ask for a better friend or colleague to this day.
Thanks to mjbear, wingedhamham, and nishi, I not only rekindled my spark, but also advanced myself both personally and professionally. Such a positive experience opened me up to be more experimental with my work and, consequently, I went on to develop an array of “Special Tales” that paid homage to all those whom I have had the pleasure to be enlightened by and/or worked with. They include, but are not limited to, the following.
tacki
His persistence to become a better artist coupled with his sound advice with respect to writing are inspiring to no end. He was also, if I’m not mistaken, the first person to ever send me a shout. :)
zee-zee
The first person to EVER know what Pocket Dragon Adventures was aside from me. Not only that, he is an amazing writer whose works make me not only remember my childhood, but also encourage me to continue working toward my goal of becoming a published, writer of juvenile fiction.
darkpawcamui
I met this highly versatile and talented musician by chance and have found his ability to diversify himself within his field of expertise to be nothing short of amazing. He has often dedicated much time to projects and his level of commitment encourages me greatly when it comes to my writing and professional endeavors.
azuredragon
Our discussions have really helped me to become a better person both inside and out. His writing talent also has opened me up to just how much I still need to learn when it comes to the field I love so much.
The above, as well as those mentioned earlier, have helped me to really make the most of this past year. However, as this picture implies, there are so many others who have had an impact and I do not intend to make light of it. That is why I included icons by each picture to indicate just who did what so that it is forever noted how there would be no Yosh-E-O without any of you. Some quick plugs if I might are as follows.
kaffre - A most interesting and ever improving kitten to whom I am delighted to have as a friend.
malin-m - Without her, I’d fear there was no hope for those of us with avian qualities. She’s also quite dedicated and fun to follow.
catindminor - Yet another amazing musician who is also an aspiring writer and an up-and-coming artist. She’s also very friendly and fun to comment with.
dragonfan - His writing style has proven to me how interesting life can be through the creative interpretations of someone else.
Here’s to another great year full of friends and fun! I look forward to getting to know all of you more while meeting new friends along the way! Oopa!
BONUS NOTE:
A Yoshi Cookie to whoever can tell me how the title of this entry equates to 100%. :)

Aww, well, I'm really happy to hear our friendship means so much to you, too. It was also really neat to see all the artwork done of you in one place, and finally see just who did some of the avatars I enjoyed so much.
It also makes me blush that I had a stealth fan. ^^;
As for the challenge... well, in cm 30x20x5 is a typical painting size , and now we're seeing the full picture, so that's like 100%.
In inches, it's the perfect size for a plastic collector's box. Gotta catch 'em all! ;)

*Leaps back* Kazootles! *Runs to the cookie jar and grabs two Yoshi Cookies* That isn't the right answer, but your answers are actually far better than the real one. *Holds one Yoshi Cookie out in each hand* Take your prizes, oh wise one.
<LoL!> Actually, the initial answer to 30 x 20 x 5 is the number sequence from Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS to earn a perfect score in a level. 30 Stars, 20 Red Coins, and 5 Flowers. :) Quite obscure, but I've lately been in quite the Yoshi mood so I thought I'd roll with it. *flutter jumps* Gaboo!
More seriously, I can't express how exciting it was that you found me before I found you. After all, once I discovered Toroth in late 2006, I couldn't help but try to find more pics as I got the chance to do so. It just so happened that, one day, I spotted a certain
azuredragon in my watch box and, upon checking, noticed that I had stumbled upon the actual original after wondering if there really was one for over two years. :) <LoL!> I still remember your response to my excited shout that I left. However, "legendary" was the right choice of words for, no matter where I ended up, I could never find the real Toroth up until then. Oopa!

There is quite a bit here, isn't there? :) This pic is actually going to soon replace my "Featured Submission" so that I can more notably show my appreciation to great friends like yourself for the fantastic work you have been so kind to do of my character. Like I said, it's thanks to everyone that I am the Yosh-E-O I am today. You particularly have helped in more ways-than-one. *Hugs* Thank you!
Oopa! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this celebratory series thus far. After everything that has happened in the past year, I couldn't help but make a big "to do" out of it. Spreading it throughout the week leading up makes the experience a lot more fun in that I can present all my thoughts and special thanks in sections rather than cram it in all at once. I just hope that, in doing this, I don't seem like an overly egocentric Yoshi. *cush-cush*
*blush* To be honest, I never thought I'd ever do anything on here that would make me worthy of receiving such great works from so many wonderful people.
Like I said, too, I have you in large part to thank for all of this. If I hadn't come across you on DA and then noted you being on FA, I probably never would've joined in the first place. It's for this reason that I apologize for the tardiness in my replies to your work as of late. I've been meaning to note on some of your pieces, but have just found myself getting dragged off on other responsibilities before I get the chance. *sigh*

No need to apologize for sure!! I for one have been just as bad as of late, I have only been getting around to faving and commenting about once a week it seems O.O We all have stuff in our lives that comes first and we need to take care of and when it needs to be done we do it first. As for me getting you out here.....I still think I did nothing more than be a muse to let you see that you could use the confidence you always had inside you. You took it from there and it seems that you have come very far^^
Nah, you don't need to do that. If you did, though, I assure you it would be greatly appreciated. :)
If I might say, it is just nice to have a friend like you to talk to and collaborate with. There honestly would've been no Creative Campaign without you and I feel it is actually one of my best works I've ever done here. Being able to share times via PM and Neo has also been a great pleasure as well.

Bravo! *Tosses a Yoshi Cookie* Another brilliant answer that goes above-and-beyond my silly explanation. *Applause* Well done, Foo! :)
Actually, in my sillyness, I made 30 x 20 x 5 as a reference to Yoshi's Island. 30 Stars, 20 Red Coins, and 5 Flowers gives you a perfect score of 100% in a level.
*blushes and looks to the side* I admit my concept was far too obscure, but I couldn't help myself. *Opens the cookie jar and hands out another Yoshi Cookie* Thanks for being so kind as to partake in the fun. :)

:) Good spy with your eye. I couldn't have put together a meanignful collage without having added your work into it. After all, you have been quite influential in what I have been doing here.
Oh, speaking of which, I am currently working on another big story series involving many friends and their characters. Having been a part of the original, I do believe, with your permission of course, you may just see yourself making yet another cameo in the not-so-distant future. :)
