Boxelder bug, actually! Though cockroaches are also pretty great, even if they get a bad rep all the time.

I do have a theory that the Insect race comes from a country/nation filled with large plants, notably the humongous trees that their cities are built around. Their ruler is always a female and goes by the title of Matriarch. She is appointed by the previous Matriarch when the older one feels its time for her to retire and she chooses from her closes handmaidens. When she retires she becomes the new Matriarchs adviser.

I didn't get a chance to see and reply to this because of Roaming phone data during travel, but now that I'm home -- I REALLY LIKE THIS IDEA. THIS IS GOOD. Oh man, there's a lot of potential in just that concept alone...

Also since from your icon you're a reptile. The Reptile/Amphibian race come from a country/nation that is mainly tropical rain-forests, hot deserts, and swamps. So like a combination of the South American Rain Forest, Louisiana/Florida swamps, and Egypt deserts and Nile area.

I like to think in the Beastfolk world the different races developed in regions that would encourage that race more than others.
