For those that cannot bypass it: Devo Sleet vs. Lucario - the next story featuring Lucario that is 'General' rated.
This is a short story submission for the
riolulucarioclub Summer-themed contest that ends Monday, August 31.
All of the Pokémon characters mentioned in this story are copyrights of Nintendo. Gaomon, who gets a brief mention, belongs to the Digimon franchise. Any of the other characters are the product of my own imagination.
Notes:
While Lucario is the main character in this story, Riolu also makes a guest appearance, along with Lucario's trainer, "Stompy."
My idea for 'Stompy' sprung from Pokémon Stadium. You can see why at around the 43-47 second mark of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz1LuFiwawA
My version of Lucario can remove his chest and front paw spikes. In the scenes that he's in, Lucario is not wearing his spikes. That's why he's able to grapple without impaling his opponent. :D
I chose to call Gaomon an "akita" because my research on him showed that 'Gao' is Cantonese for 'dog' and also one Digimon site I looked at said he was an akita, although other sites referred to him as a 'blue dog/wolf hybrid' and a 'blue wolf' respectively, so if anyone has further, definite resource information to make it more clear, please feel free to do so.
I think this is my first 'General' themed submission on FA. :P
Also, 'beach wrestling' really does exist. Further information about it can be done with just a quick internet search. I found most of my information here though: http://www.beachdistrictwrestling.com/
And it is partly why I decided to stick Lucario in Chesapeake Bay for the beach wrestling tournament. :D

I'd say you have quite nice storywriting skills, especially in the descriptive part. I'm not sure if it's my tremendously active imagination, but I was able to picture the setting & the sensory details with ease, almost like if it were a cartoon show. Other than a few spelling errors, the story is excellently written.
About the plot, we must be reasonable, our favorite characters aren't gonna suceed all the time; so I find nice that you wrote the conclusion as it is.
