oh no that's pretty wrong xD , evangelion has just a lot of christians simbolisms /also jewish ones and some more), but really nothing to do with christian religion, anno used the things of european christian's culture (basing some with bible and some with medieval christians conceptions like heaven) to create an unique and way more than original and incredibly complex story, especially for oriental culture, but nobdy was christian in the studio, surely something that was truly unique that time in japan, whenever they say "god" they are probably refering to the ancestral creatures that created adam and lilith, or adam itself that created the angels
