Alrighty, Yep I have been very quiet lately.. Between working, and just not in the mood at all to work on anything art related.
marymouse decided to smack me in the face

with something that totally got me out of my funk and back into work on sculptures etc. I thank you Mary for doing the artwork! I can't thank you enough :)
But anyways, Here is the progress of the "baby" Frazzy Slug creature I am working on, Instead of using typical Super Sculptey I decided to go and use Plasteline oil based clay in which is freakin awesome to work with.. I just have to figure out how to smooth it to a glass like finish.." Any suggestions" Also, Being this is Oil based clay and if I were to paint this... I will have to make a Negative mold of the sculpture in which I can make more than one sculptures :) meaning.. If I were to make 25 of these all painted up.. I might sell a few if anyone were to be interested.

Its call NSp Sulpher Free Plaseline oil clay. Pretty interesting clay you use Alcohol and or Turpenoid and a soft brush to smooth it out. BUT you have to heat the clay using a box and a 60watt lightbulb so its workable. I also have a Alcohol tourch that does wonders when it comes to adding clay or melting the clay down to make it look interesting.
the downfall of using this clay is that it will never harden, forcing you to have to make a mold of the figure so you can make a resin copy of it.. A little more work but well worth it if your trying to make duplicate copies of the sculpture/figure

they're paintbrush looking things with a rubber tip attached in various shapes(round, flat, etc.) good stuff! The miniature sculptors I am friends with swear by them.

Heya Spunky, Thanks for the compliments on the sculpture. I have been keeping it simple for now working on simple shaped figures and stuff. nothing like a fully detailed character as of yet.. Glad to hear the Piyo is watching over you. Maybe sometime take a picture of its new home. How is the sculpture doing? any cracks forming etc? I always fear the cracks since its the original Super Sculptey figure. That's kinda the reason I am working with the oil based clay now. But I can also make duplications of the sculptures :)
I don't.... think there are any cracks as of yet... would you recommend I glaze it over with any sort of protectant at all? Or is it fine as is? I don't want to alter your lovely work. As for photos, just for you:

As you can see, I have a Round and Cute Bird Addiction. I also collect Peeps :) That's against my wall, next to my closet :D He watches over me at night, and protects me from my CREEPY AS HELL night light.

This is coming along very nicely, very well done.
Using a heat gun or hairdryer is a good way to smooth out stuff with oil based clay as well as keeping a wet sponge around, mineral oil is an interesting thing to experiment with as well... I'd play with it on something else a lot before trying with something you're working on.

fantastic character work looks great
one way of painting this particular medium is to Shellac it with a shellac based paint product. using the heat gun at a distance of at least 12 inches in a smooth back and forth motion will get you the glass finish you need.
hope this helps
