Such and handsome cat. Tragic story and I dont see him as a villan per se, but a very damaged individual victim of his upraising and education. For brief moments you can see glimpses that all he wanted is love and appreciation from his father.

the story tells us that he held this darkness and lust for power when this was exactly Shifu's teachings and they justify his fall from grace due to his rampage after facing rejection and that his father did not stand for him nor gave any sort of comfort to a betrayed hopeful and dedicated student and son, moreover people just concentrate on the moment when Shifu apologizes, the innocence comes back to his eyes for a brief moment only to revert to anger and darkeness, yes he is evil, irredimeable... Hey people, are you just going to ignore the reasons why he was led to this path and also what TWENTY YEARS of unfair imprisonment, tortured by a tortoise shell (fantastic choice of device shape as reminder of the one who hurted him so bad) that had needles pressing nerves that barely allowed him to breath enough to be alive and being abused by the guards in who knows how many ways, 20 years of that surely can leave a bit of a mark in someone's spirit, wouldn't you agree? I think the real villain in the story are the masters, Oogway for his arrogance, and Shifu for abusing his son following Oogway blindly. This darkness is based on the assumption he only wants power, when in reality the only reason he desires the power is to make Shifu proud. All Tai Lung ever wanted is to be loved.

Yeah, it's one of the torture methods and what the needles in the shell were meant to do. And got abused by the guards, and probably in many ways. Its the first time I see this much injustice being passed as, oh he just went crazy because he was evil.

it's Tai Lungs' tragedy, it's the first time (but sadly not the last) where you see the hero being treated as the villain, the narrative completely twisted to serve the real evil people who rule under a frail veil of righteousness that fools only the sheep. 20 years... 20 god damned years in a torture dungeon, for the simple crime of destroying things out of your desperation. No one got killed, no villagers back then, no single guard killed during escape, yes there was a explosion, but the goose/duck messenger didnt die. He was escaping, not thinking on murder or rampage. Then, fights the 5 furious, doesnt kill a single one, that would have hurt Shifu. But that's not his intention, not even after 20 years. He just appears before the real villains, to claim what it was promised, that strong is the commitment to his teachings, to his father, to Master Shifu. And what is that he finds? A stupid Panda that ends up KILLING HIM and they make a joke out of it.

technically Tai lung did not die he just got sent to the spirit realm(Wuxi finger hold DOES not kill because Po did it on himself to stop Kai)
