At about 10 last night I took my rat son out, named Diablo (pictured above.)
I knew something wasn't right since he was acting sluggish and wouldn't move and was only interested in sleeping up against me, having his sides sucked in and obviously in pain. I contacted help. I got him all sorts of things to try and relieve him of his discomfort, but he refused to take anything.
I thought he could hold out till morning so I could contact a vet, and he did. Like the strong boy he was. But at 8 this morning, his sickness overcame him. I heard thrashing in the cage and found him laying in the corner gasping, I picked him up and sat on my bed cradling him in my arms. Hoping to god himself that it would stop, that this wasn't happening. After the several minutes of torture he flailed in my arms and passed away. I was relived that his pain stopped. That he could go beyond us into the afterlife and be with his recently deceased cage mate, Enzo. Who died unexpectedly just a week ago.
I plan to bury him in a pot. I loved him alot, never has an animal filled me with so much joy.
He died young, at only 10 weeks.
I don't know what I'll do with my last rat..
