This isn't a recent pic of the closet where I keep my animal costumes, but it'll do.
Shawn and I debuted our animal costumes at comic con in 1987 and a year later parted company. Shawn is today a successful animator/director with his own studio. in '87 he encouraged me to make my own stuff, basing it on the fact that I had intimate knowledge of the construction and operation of the character costumes at Disney.
I continued to make them until '97 when I said "fuck it", why bother,as it had ceased to be enjoyable long before, besides, everyone was making them and I'd started drawing in the mid 90's and enjoyed it more.
Due to failing health, I'm mulling over the options for my existing costumes, as I'd also done a few commissions as well.
I designed all of them to my body specs: 5'8", 150-160 pounds, so it's unlikely they'd fit anyone else.
The options are as follows: sell them for the amount I choose, give them to my roomate to dispose of, or outright destroy them. I have no desire to ever wear them again.
The individuals that make up, what's called "furry" would see them as antiques to be ridiculed, as everything out there today looks the same, as they seem to prefer.
Frankly, I don't care if you like my comments or not, as that's simply how it is.
Years ago I distanced myself from "furry" and referred to myself as anthro, which I will always be.
I'll continue to post on FA as long as I'm able, that's all I have to say.

I’m a bit shorter, but the weight is around the same. I absolutely love those fursuit heads, they really have a Disney-esque charm that's been lost with recent suits, and I’d love to see this style come back! The head at the upper right or the bear on the lower shelf particularly catch my eye.
Antiques, no.. Vintage, yes. And the disneyesque style makes them very cute indeed.
Somewhere in the fandom will be someone who'll love them as much as you, this has been seen time and time again with suits who's creators have passed on.
The problem will be finding them and while they might not all find homes, I'm sure some will.
Plus, look at a current fursuit parade, the styles, construction and such are as unique the amount of art.

You may not believe me, but truly this style of Fursuit is my all time favorite. I've been a long time fan of the work of Shawn Keller, and I swoon over the few active Shawn Keller suits whenever I see them. I know there are certainly a few of us that may be interested in buying some of these costumes and I for one am 5'0" and 135lbs so I feel I'd likely fit. So if you'd have it I would love to discuss further
Wish I'd had the chance to see some of these suits in real life, from the pictures you posted your talent is clear. I really hope you don't resort to destroying them, it'd be a real loss. I'd try to buy one, but I'd never fit, and my current health issues would complicate things. Maybe some day I'll get the chance to try suiting. I wish you luck with the suits I hope some furs can preserve or wear them again someday.
To be honestly I have always really loved your suits, and if you are selling them or getting rid of them I'd really be happy to have these suits cause there like a piece of history to the fandom I see it as and these are all amazing. The height is like perfect too for me if I were to wear these. If your seriously would love to talk.
I also do agree with some comments your made on how some suits do look like rehashed versions of themselves too and sad how much certain things have changed in this community that drives some others out these days due to these changes :/ hope you been ok

I love these old suits and if you ever want to partwith one or sell them I would love to own one. Pics of your suits made me wanna join the fandom and inspired me to make my own! I know you want to distance yourself from furry and that's understandable, I just want to thank k you for your contributions.

I feel this through my entire soul. I could go off on a huge tangent about 'furry standards' when it comes to fursuits or animal costumes in general but I'll spare everyone lol.
Personally these appeal to me way WAY more than modern fursuits and I hope that you decide to sell them off rather than destroy them. They have such a wonderful nostalgic classic cartoon feel to them that really appeals to me. I sincerely hope you're able to find a good home for them.

Please don't destroy them. There is history in those suits! You are apart of what started the furry fandom and helped it grow to the size it is today! I wish you luck with whatever you decide but i hope that maybe i can dis-wade you just a little from trashing them. They are living history and shouldn't be forgotten to time.

PLEASE DON'T DESTROY THEM! EVER! Especially Hilda, A,k.A The First Fursuit Dancer at a Con.
If anything I'll suggest auctioning them off. More modern furs are starting to realize your contributions into this Fandom and may pay a good price for an authentic old school Fursuit. Its Leagues more fruitful than outright destroying them. Please Mr. Bear. for the Sake of the Fandom's History.

While I know that Robert Hill passed away three years ago, I look back on the times I met him in person and got to see this closet with all the fursuits present. I'd love nothing more than to acquire Hilda if she was spared destruction, for the sake of preserving one of the greatest works of furry culture ever created. I only wish I could've tried bargaining for her in the past when Hill was still alive.
This is heartbreaking to read how you feel about it all.. They are absolutely gorgeous suits. I don't see why someone would even make fun of them, but I suppose you're speaking from personnal experience, which is even more painful. I hope you will fond someone who can adopt them. Please never throw them away or destroy them. They are precious and unique.
I like that, Anthro, because I tend to agree with your sentiment, even if you probably won't read this, I say probably who knows. But anyway I wish I had seen this 6 years ago, maybe a I could have offered a little hope for the future. You are, were, whatever, an inspiration, to, well, me. I first saw the pictures of Hilda, and I thought, thats something I can get behind, pun intended. But she was original, and sex positive, and quite punk rock, like me. I feel like I'd have gotten along with you and your friends way more than anyone I meet lately, and while I'd love to wear an original, obviously that isn't gonna happen,, so, im gonna make my own. And I bet , it isn't even a matter of ridicule, I bet I just don't get allowed in to most cons. Although I can think of one that I bet would actually appreciate it. That being said, I guess I should get to work if I want my suit to be ready in time, labor or memorial day, I get the two confused. Its not huge its not expensive and I've been trying to go for 3 years now. But I think it'll be just right for this pariah among theparaiahed. All my respect. Should I run into you somewhere, I hope you'll let me buy you a drink and burn your ear a little. And I'm gonna use Anthro, I don't think you'll mind.
