He stayed that way for at least a half hour, he never flew off, so MRCC took him back in and released him at a later date, and he went fine then

I think it's awesome that the MRCC is involved in raptor rehab and release!

Mountsberg was last in the rehab business until Dec 2001. The funding was cut and the mandate was changed to pull ourselves out of raptor rehab and to concentrate more on education and conservation.

Many Southern Ontario facilities started to close their doors on injured raptors. Rehabbing is a relatively expensive endeavour and the money just wasn't there in many of the facilities.

Kudos to the MRCC in staying true to raptor rehab and release. I'm very proud of you, your mate, and MRCC!

one of the other rehab places in MT closed down, so now MRCC is getting several more birds than we are used to, from what I understand we are the only rehab center in MT that has good flight facilities for the birds to build their flight muscles back up in.

I'll try to remember not to reduce the size so much with the next hawk pictures. I usually reduce them to 25% of the original size if they are taken with my camera.
