Also can totally see it being a misunderstanding that people think she's evil:
Good guys: "You show up with a huge army and take what you want and destroy half the population!"
Iolite: "What? I show up on planets that are being invaded and fight the invaders! Do people not notice all the dead alien things and the me fighting?"
Good guys: "You leave with them once you've gotten what you want!"
Iolite: "I leave after they retreat from me. A hero needs no thanks."
And then she gets the other stones through friendship and puppy eyes (and maybe some soft punches) and uses them to go to planets and help people

Nope! I've never really read any Marvel or DC stuff and think superhero stuff is pretty boring in general, but some of the MCU movies are actually well done and I like well written characters and story, and I'm a scifi fan so I started watching 'em for that and ended up liking a couple
