So explain the teacher's logic here, why can't they use their real names just translated into Spanish?

I never fully understood it myself, but in every foreign language class I took back in middle/high school in the 90's, the teachers always assigned your class name. Either that or you were given a specific list of pre-selected names that you could use for your name. I think it was because not every name in English has a Spanish equivalent, so they didn't want anyone to feel left out?

I dunno. I just remember that between several years of Spanish classes, my names included Jose and Eduardo, amongst others, but never Juan (which seemed like the obvious choice).

At least you didn't get the name Zap Rowsedower.
