Well here's a story for a side project me and a couple of wirters/artists are working on. Come as you follow my student Andres Fuentes, through his adventure in the prestigious Exodia Academy!
Exodia Academy: Entrance Exam
Hey! I’m Andres Fuentes, but call me Andy! I’ll love to talk right now but I got to run across almost half of Domino City to before I miss the second part of my entrance exam. If I miss that, it’ll mean I won’t be able to get into one of the best dueling schools around, Exodia Academy! I’ve been dreaming of getting into this academy forever. Ok maybe not forever since I’m only 13 but you get it. I can’t wait to beat other duelists that came from all around the world what my Warrior deck has got to offer!
I ran into the building luckily just before they stopped letting people in, so I was able to get in. They curators of the exams escorted me to a huge duel arena in the middle of the building. This where I saw a mix of students, some who are already in the school, I could tell by the red, yellow, or blue jackets they were wearing. Others probably already took their exams or were waiting for their exam. Well I already know I passed the written part of my exam, I’m sort of a nerd like that. Now it was time for my favorite part, where they actually set you up against a proctor to test your dueling skills. After a couple duels later it was finally my turn! I ran down to the arena and got my deck into my duel disk.
“Let’s do this!” I proclaimed as my disk turns on.
The proctor chuckled “Excited are we?”
“Yeah, excited to win!”
“Let’s see if you can put your money where your mouth is. Duel! You can go first.” His duel disk turned on too and the duel was on!
Me: 8000 LP
DP: 8000 LP
I drew six cards. And I couldn’t ask for better cards! “I summon a monster face down in defense mode and set two cards face down. And end my turn.” I grinned as the facedown monster was Shield Warrior and I had two traps just ready for him.
“Not a bad start, but remember a good defense is a good offense!” He drew six cards. “Now I will show you what I mean! I activate Mausoleum of The Emperor!” I gulped as behind him a large sacrificial alter rose up behind him and stone solders appear along the ground. “Now instead of sacrificing monsters we just give up 1000 life points for the number of sacrifices the monster needs to be summoned. Like right now! I sacrifice 2000 life points to summon The Blue Eyes White Dragon!!” I stepped back a bit as two statues rises up then disappear as the mighty blue and white dragon appeared with a huge roar. (3000/2500) I activate Mythical Space Typhoon to destroy one of your facedown cards! I choose the one of the left.” A tornado blasted through one of that card which was my Scrap-Iron Scarecrow.
“Crud!”
“Now Blue Eyes attacks your facedown monster with White Lighting!” Then the Blue Eyes White Dragon fired a huge blast from its mouth and destroyed my Shield Warrior. “Now I place two cards face down and end my turn.”
Me: 8000 LP

“My draw.” I drew a card, and I’m in a bad position. Facing down a really powerful monster and no idea how to get rid of it and without anything to stop it I was screwed but then I drew my Destiny Hero Doom Lord and I had an idea. “I summon Destiny Hero Doom Lord in attack mode!” Then a dark figure appeared on the field with a large dark cape as he stared down the huge dragon in front of him. (600/800) “Now I activate his special effect which removes Blue Eyes from the field!” With a wave of Doom Lord’s arm, the dragon disappeared from the field. “But if I use his effect I can’t attack this turn so I end.”
He his card and looked at it closely. “Now I place a face down and activate Card Destruction! This means we throw out all the cards in our hands and draw the same exact cards we discarded.” So we sent our hands to the graveyard and drew the cards, which sucked because I had a really good hand!! “Now I sacrifice 2000 more life points to summon another Blue Eyes White Dragon!”
“Not again!” But yes again he summoned another Blue Eyes White Dragon to the field.
“Now attack the Doom Lord with White Lighting!!”
“I activate Sakurestu Armor which stops your attack and destroys your Blue Eyes!”
“It would if I didn’t have this…” He revealed his face down to be TRAP JAMMER?! “Now your trap is negated and destroyed and my attack continues.”
I had to think fast since Doom Lord is my saving grace I this duel… “I activate my Shield Warrior’s special ability! By removing him from play when he was destroyed in battle I can prevent my Doom Lord from being destroyed in battle.”
“But you still lose damage equal to the difference in their attack points.” He was right as the blast well… blasted past Doom Lord and hit me with a hell of a 2400 points of damage. “I place two face downs and end my turn.”
Me: 5400
DP: 4000
“My turn!” I drew and had to think fast. Next turn his other Blue Eye will come back and I will be in for twice the butt whooping! “Now I activate Doom Lord’s special effect and….”
“No you won’t because I activate my trap card Devine Wrath! By discarding a card from my hand I can negate the effect of your Doom Lord and destroy it.” And with a blast from above my Doom Lord was gone.
“Ok…. Plan B. I summon Junk Synchron from my hand in attack mode!” Then my short warrior in orange made his appearance to the field. (1300/500) “Now thanks to his special effect one of my level 2 or lower monsters comes back from the grave! And I choose the one you made me throw out Speed Warrior!! Now Junk Sychron, tune my Speed Warrior to make Junk Warrior!” My two warriors combined in a dazzling light to form a powerful warrior flew through the sky the pointed his larger fist at the Blue Eyes ready to take him down. (2300/1300)
“Impressive monster but he’s still not strong enough to defeat Blue Eyes.”
“I know. That’s why I activate Banner of Courage which gives my monster an extra 200 attack points when he goes into battle and Mage Power that gives him an extra 500 attack points for every spell and trap card on my field which means, my Junk Warrior has 4500 attack points!”
“Wrong again! I activate my Judgment of Anubis! Now I discard another card in my hand and it negates and destroys you Mage Power then destroys your Junk Warrior and you lose damage equal to his attack points.”
“WHAT?!” BOOM!!!!!! Junk Warrior was destroyed and I was it hit with 2300 points of damage. “Damn. I activate Monster Reborn to bring back my Spirit Reaper from my graveyard in defense mode and thanks to his effect he can’t be destroyed in battle with two facedown cards and end.” A floating skeleton in a purple hood appeared and covered himself with his scythe. (300/200)

“My turn and now my Blue Eyes come back. And I use Monster Reborn to bring back a monster from my grave and choose to bring back my Masked Dragon but now I activate Soul Exchange to sacrifice both my Masked Dragon and your Spirit Reaper to summon The Creator!” Both his and my monster disappeared from the field and a gold, large, (Did I say large? I meant GIGANTIC!!!) monster appears onto the field and hovers over me. (2300/3000)
All I can say was wow…..
“Now I activate his effect by discarding a monster from my hand like my Dark Horus, I can summon a monster back from my grave with the same number of stars or less and I choose my final Blue Eyes White dragon. But luckily for you thanks to Soul Exchange I can’t attack this turn so I just play two Twisters which mean at the cost of 500 life points each I can destroy your Banner of Courage and your face down. Then end.”

Ok this was really, REALLY bad!! If I didn’t get a card that could help me then his dragons will devour me alive!! I took a deep breath to calm myself down and checked my hand. I had a Marauding Captain, Jutte Fighter, Junk Barrage and Double Summon and the only face down I had was Synchro Strike…. Against 3 Blue Eyes and The Creator. All I needed was to draw the right card and I could have a chance to win this. I drew and yes it was exactly what I needed!
The Duel Proctor grinned “Do you want to give up now and try again next year? Or you rather have my monster finish you off?”
“I say neither cause now I play Reinforcement of the Army! This lets me look through my deck for a warrior monster with 4 stars or less!” I looked through my deck and picked out another Marauding Captain. “Now I play Double Summon! Now I can normal summon twice this turn. For my first one I summon Marauding Captain! This lets me special summon a warrior from my hand when he’s normal summoned and now I summon another Marauding Captain.” Two blond hair twin sword warriors in armor appeared to the field. (1200/400 each) “Now for my second summoning I summon Jutte Fighter! And now I tune them to summon my best card!” My small warrior appeared and in another flash of light my three monsters became a huge even powerful fighter as he falls out of the sky and right behind me. “Meet my Colossal Fighter!!” (2800/1000)
“As impressive as he seems he’s still no match for my dragons.”
I grinned to him. “Well thanks to his special ability he gains 100 attack points for every warrior monster in my graveyard and since I have 7, his attack points rise to 3500. I also activate my face down Synchro Strike! It gives my Colossal Fighter 500 points for every monster I used to synchro summon him giving him an extra 1500 attack points bringing him to 5000 attack points! But I’m not done! Now I equip him with Junk Barrage! Now when he destroys a monster, half of his attack points are dealt to you as damage.”
“Oh no!”
“Oh yes! Now Colossal Fighter, knock out his Blue Eyes and finish this!!” At my command Colossal Fighter landed an incredible punch which went right through Blue Eyes and hits him with 2000 life points and then the effect of Junk Barrage blasted him with an extra 1500 attack points. “And I think that wraps up this duel quite up nicely.”

The duel proctor got up and dusted himself off then extended his hand to me. “I’m glad to tell you that you have been accepted to Exodia Academy. Congratulations.” I jumped up and down for joy in celebration. Yes! I did it! I was in! And soon I would start a new adventure in Duel Academy!
