This is quite a special picture for me. A friend commissioned me to draw for myself, since I'm often lamenting about how pressed for time I am to devote to my own characters or ideas. I was absolutely delighted for a chance to get this idea out without pressure. I love anime christmas pictures and wanted to make a little something of my own inspired by ones I enjoy.
On the right is Mal, my personal fursona, and on the left is a bit of a new-but-old face. I'll be doing a reference sheet proper for her soon, but essentially, this is Spixy, redesigned (and renamed!) into her own character even more than before. I was stuck on what to name her for close to a year, which halted the process of redesigning and reintroducing her, but I finally settled on a name; Prehnyte, or Prehn for short (pronounced like "pen" but with an "r" in it). I wanted a name that would match Malachyte as much as possible, while still being distinctive. Prehnite is a mineral, with a brilliant light green. It's a good length of name with a cute-ish sounding short version available. And of course I'm going to change the "i" in it to a "y", just to make sure the name is available anywhere I decide to use it >w> (especially with the popularity of gemsonas thanks to Steven Universe).
I look forward to drawing her more and showing you her colored design as well. I know it's May now, but I hope you all had some lovely holidays, and that even now you can look back on them fondly.
