So this summer I went to live with my mom, who lives in the middle of the desert, for the summer. She is one of those artsy crafty types and works at a leather repair shop because she loves to make/fix things.

I went in a few times with her and messed around with all the stuff there, and eventually I made a collar from scratch out of boredom. When I mean scratch I mean:
- I took a big roll of red leather and cut a strip (which is really damn hard, leather is a bitch when it comes to cutting out straight straps. Had to use a special tool for it.)
- Folded and glued the strap with master's glue which is a heavy duty leather glue.
-Stitched it with an industrial sized leather sewing machine. This thing CAN and WILL eat your fingers.

And walla, a homemade collar. I have a few dogtags on it now, it's pretty cute. :>

Whenever I finish up school here (boring ass new jeresy) I'll be heading back to live in Arizona. So probably eventually I'll be making neat leather collars and stuff with her to sell at fetish cons and possibly furcons :I She makes other stuff like bullwhips and floggers and leather corsets.

Oh and behind me in the picture is the frame of a yurt. We're SCA and she makes and sells them :]
