The Yamamoto Class BBTN is a Tactical Ballistic Missile, Nuclear Powered, Battleship (BBTN) and (as of January 1st, 2000) the largest ship in the CDN. The Yamamoto Class is named for famous admirals and naval personal, such as Isoroku Yamamoto, Karl Doenitz, Chester Nimitz, William Halsey Jr., and more. During the Military Update Project of 1982 the CDN realized that they were severely under armed and asked the government to construct at least 5 new fast battleships. At first it was heavily contested and thought of as a waste of resources and man-power and was unneeded, but after years of tense debate it was agreed that at first only 1 would be made and others would come if results were promising. During the design phase it was obvious that even the slightest mistake would be disastrous to the project, however Mai'No'Tia hadn't made a battleship scince the Last War, so early on it was decided that they would use a Terran battleship as a base to build off of, there was only one problem, by this time in history there were almost no battleships that were modern enough for the job... Almost. It was agreed that the initial design would be based off the American made Iowa Class fast battleships.

The hull itself underwent minimal changes except for the bow and stern turbines, whereas the superstructure had a major overhaul. Most of the superstructure was redesigned to be as stealthy as possible implementing 45 degree slopes where needed and the removal of any unneeded radar/ detection equipment now that those where flush with the hull. An extra turret was added above and behind the number 3 turret and 28 150mm dual purpose guns in twin turrets were placed along the length of the lower superstructure whilst in the bow a set of 6 TBM-VLS (Tactical Ballistic Missile Vertical Launch Silos) were placed in the bow in front of the Number 1 turret. Seeing just how dangerous airborne threats were the AA defense was given special attention to by placing 43 30mm Mk XXVI CIWS's along the entire ship. The Mk XXVI CIWS or "The Tungsten Force Field" (named after the tungsten made projectile it fires) is interlocked with the ship's radar and FCS that could separate the guns into groups, individuals, or have them attack the same target in a single unison group spitting out a total of over 146,500 rounds per minute (2,500 RPM per gun) onto multiple airborne threats. Amidships 16 Mk XIV SAMs were placed for longer range threats. The main armament of 9 406mm guns was replaced with the standard Mk. 82 500mm Railguns in 4 triple turrets.
