I had a hard time picking which character I should draw, but eventually I settled on Andrew, the Kirjak. (Kirin/muntjak hybrid, aka. unicorn deer.)
This is, indeed, traced from a photo of my real life self and then drawn into the character. Including the boots. I haven't got the first clue how I'd draw a hoofed, non-digitigrade critter anyhow, and I love my boots, so I left them in. I'm also pretty fond of that kilt.
Funny how it totally looks like the anatomy is out of proportion. :P Apparently I am proportioned strangely! And I have little bitty hands. Woe.

It is an interesting meme, I'm getting tempted to have a go myself. I can see how the proportions could come out a little odd, just given the geometry and such of a photo... even being more directly based off reality, funny little distortions and tricks of our eyes can make the shapes feel less natural than a drawing where we can make the proportions and all look 'right.'
And those boots are wonderful. ^^
