Aya would make a pretty badass ninja lol

I just wanted to do something a little different. While Aya is usually cute, relatively shy and quiet, she can be outgoing when with friends or in a situation where she feels confident in what she's doing. She's also surprisingly good at most physical activities. So I just wanted to show a more confident, active side of her, and felt like drawing something with an unusual theme.

About the artwork itself- It's just a sketch. I haven't drawn anything at all in about 2 months. I feel like some aspects of my artwork are really good, but anything beyond a simple straightforward pose kicks my ass, as do clothes. The clothes are kind of a mish mash of random ninja stuff... as most ninja outfits are. The pants are actually hakama shorts.... but yeah.

Fun background story- As I was sketching an idea for a story came about. I'll try to summarize without sounding horrible. Are you ready for a love triangle? lol Oops... gave away all the fun stuff!
After completing training under her mysterious ninja master, Aya has recently been bought (employed) by a renowned samurai lord. For the moment things are going pretty well for herself, well... as well as things can go when working with fellow ninja and royal pain in the ass, Ryu. Constantly chastising Aya for her lack of experience in the field, Ryu likes to think himself as Mr tall dark and somber, when in reality it's just sarcasm and hotheadness.
Soon, though, unrest in the region calls away the lord of the house, leaving it in the care of his young son, an avid and extremely gifted young samurai. Keikoku is (of course -yay cliche storylines!-) everything Ryu isn't.
While ninja are warriors of the night, 'sneaking' around and using poison, their skills are considered deceitful and below those of the samurai, they do the dirty work that highly regarded samurai refuse to do. And while the master of the house is away, Keikoku still needs to address the ninja under his command and give them assignments as needed.
When meeting with their owners, Ryu and Aya are typically cloaked, which suits Aya since she prefers to keep her gender a secret from her masters as women aren't considered as proficient, and Ryu being older has permission to speak for both of them. However, Keikoku is young, and addresses Aya directly one evening, forcing her hand. She speaks, revealing herself.
