Previous Jimmy Newman Medal Nominees:
Round 1: Maybelle Rowntree (Hobart Wolves)
Round 2: Alfred Gurns (Geelong Generals)
Round 3: Dominic Erbacher (Adelaide Butcherbirds)
Round 4: Dayna Brunskill (Fremantle Panthers)
Round 5: Martine Desharnais (Fremantle Panthers)
Jimmy Newman Medal Nominee for this round:
Round 6: Kenneth Rodgers (Geelong Generals)
This week’s nominee from Geelong only debuted in Round 4 but he has made his mark on the team already after a great game against Orange and while the Generals lost to the Miners by a considerable margin, He had 25 disposals, 8 marks and 3 tackles against the Miners and was above and away the best rookie this round. It is of course, Kenneth Rodgers.
Kenneth had quite a turbulent life growing up. Early in his life, He was in and out of Youth Detention Centres and was likely to not amount to anything besides a criminal but after joining the Heidelberg Football Club during rehabilitation, Not only did he show the skills to make it in the FAFL but it helped him become a better person and provide for his family. He is now a part of the Geelong Generals and while the Generals have had a rough season, He is one of Geelong’s best and likely to be with the team for years to come.
We wish Kenneth good luck for the rest of the season.
