Alex’s mission to Weaver is complete, but her troubles have only begun. Always looking over her shoulder, she needs to convince Xenogen to never return to Weaver. Especially considering her final, harrowing day there…
And so Alex’s time on Weaver comes to a close. I’m excited to get started on her story off her first planet as well as how her new form benefits and hampers her human life!
On a personal note, I can’t thank everyone enough for remaining patient with the release of this story. I’d also like to thank anyone that spread the word about this series; you guys rock! While I don’t want to set up any expectations, I do still want to see this story grow and evolve much like Alex herself. So I guess check back in three months and maybe there will be another part ^^;
Thank you for reading! I appreciate any and all feedback, so be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below. And if you have any ideas you'd like me to tackle, consider giving me a commission or submitting your ideas to my story suggestion forum (https://goo.gl/forms/Gc9mTiERu7RRFV7c2)

Oh yeah, despite appearances, things are pretty rough on Weaver between the giant, predatory bugs and the life-assimilating blobs. If ever there was a planet to burn...
Actually, in regards to the blobs eating each other, that was more of a necessity of making them vulnerable. After all, there had to be a reason Weaver wasn't overrun with those blobs if they can consume pretty much everything. That's why I had them cannibalize themselves; not just to give Alex something dangerous to face but to also explain why the entire planet isn't overrun with the things.

If there are more blobs, then there must be a grandmaster blob somewhere on the planet, maybe even as big as a mountain. Maybe not, if each converted lifeform tends to prefer its parent size... however there still could be such.
I almost wonder if they eventually send in a team of people alien style were they go in expecting the worst... maybe reactive-like armor suits where the 'armor' is just a space suit that excretes cyanide or something similar that no known biological thing can live in. Hmm... just don't trip and tear a hole in the suit... that would be one quick and not happy way to die.
This is a seriously interesting universe actually. I would love to see more.
What if Alex is jumped by a mugger, maybe even on her own ship? She is surprised and basically forced to absorb in order to survive the encounter, and gets all of his 'underworld' memories, launching her into her own huge investigation... or something. I'm sure there are plenty of interesting ways to take this story.

I'm happy to hear you have some interest in this story and universe!
As for the blobs and Weaver, there really isn't a Queen or King Blob. Due to their open hostility toward each other, it seems unlikely they would come together in any sort of hierarchical manner (particularly because the blobs themselves really only have two priorities: assimilate and reproduce). And with varying degrees of intelligence and instinct based on the first creature they assimilate, it would be a safe assumption that this species is more chaotic in terms of sociability than us, wolves, and hive insects.
As for Alex herself, the idea of her assimilating another person is an interesting one I've thought about myself. On the one hand, she would gain the strength, memory, and knowledge of the person, essentially allowing her to perfectly copy them if she's a good enough actor. At the same time, the question of ethics as well as the haunting memories of your victims rolling around in your head, even as recollections of those memories after their genetic code is flushed during egg-creation, would be quite harrowing. It's something I'd like to explore.
