He's a quite interesting creature in the Cthulhu Mythos.
The fact that he isn't dead set on destroying the world like all the other Gods and just fools people into doing things for him is quite interesting.

Well, he's supposed to be the embodied will of the collective Old Ones; the insanity of some is tempered by the sanity of others, until you end up with a charismatically convincing, subtly threatening, immensely powerful entity.

Hehe... Cthulhu's planning and intelligence, Ithaqua's ability to move about freely (sortof), Hastur's ability to disguise himself, Yog-Sothoth's ability of 'being many places at once'....and of course, Shudde M'ell's rage. To name only the big-boys of the Old Ones, of course. OH yeah, and Shub-Niggurath's *ahem* skill with the ladies...and men....and everything inbetween, really. XD

All that mixed into one creepy God.

Yep! I'd suggest never pissing him off. XD Specially if he's in his God of the Bloody Tongue form.. or... well... *points up* a form like THAT.

Point of order: Nyarlathotep is not a god. Immensely powerful, yes, incredibly long lived, yes, enlightened to asymmetical existences where standard morality breaks down because causality does not apply? Yes. But because H.P. himself never indicated any of his work was part of cohesive cycles, that was added on later by 'posthumus collaborators', he did use motiffs more than once. Our sum total actual 'know' about Narly, could fill a thimble.

All that said? Awesome pic and Faved.

Quite a good piece, the use of illumination via the moon adds paranoia and mystery while also being used well to high light the edges of the body's mass.

Actually I rather like this. While the traditional 'humanish' Nyar is portrayed as a handsome, though unnaturally dark pharoah of charisma and barely hidden threat, this one is simply awesome as a purely threatening being, one who could probably take on all the Egyptian Gods in a heartbeat. :D :D
