Replicate? HA HA your works is creepy for it looks near the reealism to that of a photograph.. Now I have no knowledge if just a simple painter can do all of that to this level but I do know 3d drafting tools can >.> are you using any of them like Maya or 3D's Studio Max? o.o because if so or if not... there is alot of talent in your art.. <.< i might have plans with ya latter for a pic XD
I haven't the slightest clue how 3D works. The max amount of things I use is a pencil, sketchbook, photoshop paint brush, noise, blur, dodge, burn, gradient and sometimes layer masks. Heh, I don't believe my stuff looks REAL, but I try to define details as much as I can. I still have a long way to go in that respect. My biggest focus right now is adding vibrant and varied colors.
Haha, no no no no, you need to go look at those movies again X3 But I appreciate the sentiment.
See, one of the biggest problems with improving your art is unfamiliarity with your tools. If you don't know certain techniques, your ideas can't come through as you intended, and each failure is truly just a stronger knowledge of what to do differently or better. Each drawing I do I learn something new. I learn a new technique, a new style, a new idea, a new way to do something, and each picture implements everything I learned previously. I think you'll find if you look back at my first images posted here on FA you will see a VAST improvement slowly through each subsequent picture.
Also, be sure to keep checking back for my next picture which I'm finishing up :)

Well its basically just trying to replicate any effect, detail, lightning or scenario that you really like. I really love lightning and the effects it creates. Vibrant contrasting colors in varying degrees of brightness. I don't do my work and detailing at 100% image size. I zoom in to around 300% or more and I add very small details to each spot. Use your brush to add texture and refine lines so that when you zoom back out to 100% it looks really good.
Just zoom in and refine, refine, refine. Play with techniques, take ideas and styles from other artists, watch photoshop tutorials, just gain knowledge and you'll improve alot without even knowing it.
