More fun, although Jessica and Carla would most likely disagree, from the A&K-2 dreamscape! Recently there have been strange activities in the Metro, former San Francisco, Bay. Underwater power cables have been getting cut. Strange clouds of silt have been sighted rising from the bottom of the Bay, and unusual sonar and visual sightings of strange, aggressive, and often gigantic fish have be reported. The Monterey Bay research center has even lost one of their dual-function, remote or mouse manned, submersibles! This raised the interest of the DSS, Department of Strange Stuff, which is now investigating this along with several other "strange" things that are happening in Metro City area. Even the DOD, Department of Olive Drab, is being called in to assist. And Jessica and Carla were hoping for a somewhat quiet summer vacation!

Fortunately the submarine was dual function. Meaning you could either have mice operating the sub independent of the surface ship, or the mice could stay behind and sub could be run remotely from the command ship. Due to strong currents and fears of debris on the bottom the Operations Commander decided to run the sub remotely that time. So fortunately no mice got munch this time, but many a mouse crew has been lost in the service of operating a mini-sub!
Yeah the A&K-2 universe feels like it got whacked by the funny bat when "the event of 1977" occurred. All US. armed forces are rolled into the DOD which does paint everything olive drab. Everything. Even the warships are painted that color.
But it is not just the US. that is a bit "odd" in that way. The Royal Navy paints all its warships bright white with big Union Jacks on the sides. For their aircraft carriers the paint the Jack to cover the flight deck. Also the Soviets paint all their aircraft bright shiny fire engine red with gold trim around the stars! As I described in the posting before this it feels like magical girls in the 1960's Johnny Quest universe.
