Blue Macaw's Logo Bunch #145 - TV Channels #61
Welcome back to another episode of Logo Bunch! Now that I'm finished talking about the Canadian banking companies that I know little to nothing about, I'm now ready to start on something that I know more of, starting with this episode which actually a successor to Episode 73. And probably, the one I've gotten the most requests to do. That's right, I'm talking the logos of Cartoon Network and Boomerang in the 2010s, requested by
Luiskoa. Let's start off with the 2010s logo of Cartoon Network. This logo has been around since May 2010 as the channel rebranded its era as the "CHECK it" era. This is the era where the renaissance began by producing shows such as Adventure Time w/ Finn & Jake, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Steven Universe, and more. It was even used to commemorate the 20th and 25th anniversaries of the channel, especially the 20th anniversary where they brought back a revised version of the checkerboard logo and bring back a fan favorite, Cartoon Planet. In fact, while I'm making this, most people seem to think that this logo is a resemblance to the classic checkerboard logo, which (SPOILER ALERT) it is. But, even though the good times had lived on, the badness start in 2014 as Cartoon Network is entering its second dark age. After Stuart Snyder (the man who brought infamous live-action shows to the table like Destroy Build Destroy, Level Up, and Incredible Crew) left Cartoon Network, a woman named Christina Miller stepped in as the new president of the channel and BOY, did she changed it A LOT! People considered her as the worst president than Stuart Snyder, and you know what, I agree. She is the worst president because all she did was overplaying Teen Titans Go! on the schedule, like they're trying to make TTG! as the number 1 show on Cartoon Network which it really isn't, rebooting the classic shows that received tons of backlash like The Powerpuff Girls (2016) (which the ladder doesn't seem to annoy me, I still find it average), Ben 10 (2017), and Thundercats Roar, and she she doesn't even care about the nostalgic shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe anymore (well, except for Gumball). Also, she spends way too much time on online functionality rather than television. She did put out some good shows like We Bare Bears, OK KO! Let's Be Heroes!, and Craig of the Creek, but it still wasn't enough. BUT, the worse she did to the company, even worse than the overscheduling of Teen Titans Go!, was rebranding Boomerang. As you all know, Boomerang is a nostalgic channel where you can watch all of the classic shows that are no longer on Cartoon Network. Oh, and remember the old logo that we used to remember? Well, say goodbye to that and say hello to The Letter B Box logo. When I look at this, I'm like "WHAT THE F*CK is THIS?!?! What happened to the old Boomerang?" Really, that was my true reaction, because this logo is cheesy and bland. This rebrand started in January 15, 2015 and..... how could I put this clearly? It just wasn't the same anymore. Problem #1: The rebrand the bumpers to make it look like the Cartoon Network we know now. Why? I don't know. Problem #2: The scheduling is awful. All they did was play Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby-Doo over and over. Problem #3: Speaking of the scheduling, they added the new Cartoon Network shows that are still going like Teen Titans Go!, Gumball, Ben 10 (2017), and OK KO! on the lineup. This doesn't make any sense, why are they showing these on the sister channel while they're still going on the main channel? And Problem #4: the WORST of all, they removed some of the classic shows we grown to love, even the classic Hanna-Barbera shows that made it a household name like The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, etc. WHY REMOVE THEM?!?! Keep them on the lineup! But no, they will not. (Now, at times they usually play a few classics on the channel, like around primetime, but still, they need the show them during the day as well.) Nowadays, people has considered Boomerang a dead wasteland and I can still see it now. What will Cartoon Network have in store for the future, I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this most requested Cartoon Network episode of Logo Bunch! Hope you guys enjoy! I'm out, peace! You make a great point on this. Especially with the recent Thundercats reboot. It’s like the CN we knew a long time ago along with Boomerang is no more and it’s replaced with a greedy company that’ll do force to view a bad cartoon and make it number one. Its at the point it’s so obvious on what they’re doing. I stopped watching CN as a whole sense there aren’t many good shows as there were when I was little. And bad reboots aren’t going to work. Heck, I’m still annoyed after learning why they didn’t do a season 2 of the other reboot of Thundercat. CN’s excuse: “Nobody watched it.”
