Frankfurt just opended a mostly reconstructed part of its historic city center between the cathedral and the city hall square (Römerberg) to the public. The historic city center (Altstadt) of Frankfurt was destroyed in 1944 by allied bombing terror raids, like many, many other german cities. This reconstruction gives the city a part of its soul back. Many critics called this project a "Disneyland" for tourists, but its not what it is supposed to be. The buildings will couse apartments and normal shops insted of tourist crap. I personally think its one of the best urban repair projects of the last years.
Detail work on the "Haus Goldene Waage" - "Golden Scales house", known prior to WW2 as the most beautyfull buildings of the city. So of course its reconstruction is one of the most elaborate ones and basically one of the highlights of the new Altstadt. Note the golden dragon head gargoyles at the roof.
