My first and so far only Alebrije theme quadsuit, the very nature of Alebrijes suit the needs of a quadsuit very well as they can be chimera type creatures, this one in particular is a feline-deer-rabbit mix.
I decided to bring in Día de Muertos details into the design with ample flowers, skull accents and a sugar skull face, I also found this neat embroidered piece, that wholly spoke to me as representative of how bright and colorful Mexican art is, that I cut up and used for accents.
The client wanted an overall feline based creature with large ears, we then spoke of the antlers and using hoofs vs paws for the design since stilts are easier to joint and use in a hoofed-animal fashion. Of the patterned furs I have my client liked that striped fabric the most and thus I put focus on the huge ears with it. The ears are pinned back so as to show off the stripes from the front, it is hard to tell in these photos but they have an inner curve and are shaped like rabbit ears, the inside is lined with fire colored 3 tone spike fur.
Vision is out the neck and mouth, the ears are set on springs and the arm stilts are jointed, the jaw also moves a little. The back is a mesh based fabric I found with a 3d rose texture sewn into it that I then added silk roses to, so the back of the costume breaths and releases heat.
The antlers are from Black Crane, the teeth and hooves from DVC, the head base and eyes from Drakonicknight, rest of the work is by me :)

This is incredible! Storytime; my favorite app/game is Pixel Petz (username=Lailette) which lets you make animated pets with tons of different parts. A few months ago, they added a new set of parts called "Alebrije", & until I saw this suit, inspiring me to look into it, I didn't realize that Alebrije was the name of an entire beautiful art form! So thank you for introducing me to this fantastic subject :)
