If you're tired of Calarts and or Thundercats Roar discussion, just look away because I'm just gonna lay it all out here and now.
1. NEVER threaten anyone for making something that you just don't like. The artists working on these series don't deserve to be harassed like that.
2. I don't hate the colloquial design trends at all. Many of my favorite shows fall in that category, and not all "calArts" style shows look exactly the same. For example, PPG reboot has a very beveled boxy with soft colors look while Gravity Falls has more flow, plays more with proportions and uses more saturated colors.
3. I am sick of remaking action series into what I see as mediocre soft comedies.
4. The new Thundercats art style is just plain Ugly to me. Soft edges and inconsistent anatomy don't lend well to manic action.
And the voice acting for lion-o sounds like an amateur youtuber trying to oversell his zaniness.
5. Discussion about this issue is nearly impossible. If you critique it, people either assume you're an overly nostalgic manchild who can't accept change or you're outright ignored. If you support it, you're an apologist for lazy art and trying to suck up to the creators or again, ignored entirely. We're often too quick to assume our "opponents" are arguing our exact opposite point, and thus can be crammed into a convenient category to be easily disregarded, putting words into each others mouths.
6. I understand animation takes a lot of effort. I understand Thundercats Roar is for a new audience. I know that there is real talent behind this. But I think it looks like a terrible fit. To me it only looks like another TTG attempt. Trying to force an action series into an easily digestible comedy format. Only using a property they already possess to save off development. I don't wish ill on the creators, but I'm not going to pretend I don't think it's weak.
7. I don't think you're a bad person for liking the look of Roar and I hope you can enjoy it even though it turns me well the fuck off.
Just had to get that off my chest.

It's a new one. Another Cartoon Network soft comedy reboot.

I agree wholeheartedly. It looks so bland to me, it lacks identity in practically all levels (it evokes something recognizable, while being something absolutely different) be it in art style or in subject matter.
I truly hope at least the writing is serviceable, that way it may not be an utter failure.
Still, don't be a dick to the creators (unless they are dicks themselves). However, feel free to make fun of them (just a little), I mean the producer calls himself "boss boy"...

i just think it's funny cause its like...thundercats thing is practically copying the style of whatever's popular in the moment. in the 80s it was trying to be he-man, in the early 10s it was trying to be avatar, and now it's trying to be...more OK KO than steven universe in my opinion but yknow
like, if anything, this is very on-brand for thundercats

... okay, not sure I like the art style either. And I agree, the new Liono does sound a bit ... boisterous. It seems more like Mighty Magiswords with the way Liono is acting right now in that trailer. I'm willing to give it a shot to see how they handle the series, but at the same time, if they focus too much on the humor, they're going to lose the whole heart of the story in the first place. I really hope that doesn't happen.
