Yeah I know. Some of those planes have been in service since Justin's daddy was PM. Nothing has been decided yet from what I hear, but the Super Hornet seems to me like the most logical choice to replace the RCAF's current fighter fleet.

We should have honestly got a new deal with Boeing to buy new F-18E's...

It would certainly make sense to buy new, instead of buying hand-me-downs. You get more service life out of the engines and airframes that way. There's a difference between being economical and being cheap.
