It's really interesting how the language has changed over time.

Another very vintage burial, and something of interest to me: my brother's wife, deceased a year and a couple of months ago, had her father with the same name and spelling as this fellow's. I doubt there is any direct relation, certainly given both physical location of where I assume this Richard died and the three-hundred and twenty years since his death, but even if only for trivia's sake, this is a fascinating find you've shared once again, GC!
