Your side, because you've drawn (or at least started drawing) a kink I never get to see. In which a long slender character is sucked up like a strand of spaghetti. I just hope to one day see it just as I envision it, where the one getting sucked up has it's last bit whip back and forth quickly before it slips in.
The saliva is special but just a part of the overall draining process so it's not worth mentioning most the time. It's the conduit that makes energy transferring more efficient. The whole of the leech body can drain your energy, so being coiled by one is bad but not terrible, the flesh coated in saliva is much better at draining and since the saliva is mostly internal maw body contained it's most dangerous to get chomped on or swallowed by the leeches.
