Hi there! Bit of the old food porn for you.
This sauce is for pasta, but I imagine it can be used for other things.
Allons-y!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 diced onion
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes (I used Del Monte brand, seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano)
1 tablespoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 Cup heavy cream
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, saute onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat. Make sure it doesn't burn.
2. Add tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to boil and continue to boil 5 minutes or until most of the liquid evaporates.
3. Remove from heat; stir in whipping cream and butter. Reduce heat and simmer 5 more minutes.
4. CAREFULLY! transfer the HOT contents of the saucepan to a blender and puree until fairly smooth. You can also use a stick blender, but I couldn't find mine right off.
