I don't know where you are in CA, but here is a link to a "grower's" herd.....yeah, they are raise for the meat, but still you might be able to visit to see the buffs.

via the magic of google....*hugs back* always glad to help.....oh and I was a member of the Nation Bison Association for a couple years so I kinda knew what I was looking for....I never owned a bison *sighs* but I joined as an associate member so I could get all the cool calendars and magazines with great pictures...that and the names and locations of all registered bison herds in the United States....yep, I went visiting a lot.
hehe I found one I though I was going to have to introduce one to my mom it was so friendly....The man lived in the Mountains of NC near where I went to collage and he had a bull he raised on a bottle, it was so friendly that if you bent down and said "give us a kiss" ....it would!....he was the coolest buff I've met.....he ate grass out of my hand and then licked my cheek....the only problem was he was very loving...he would rub against you if you "ignored him"....all you had to do was look the other way and there he was....I didn't have a very good camera then so all the pics I have of him, I'm ashamed to show, but he was a beautiful buff......oh damn I miss him.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2751083/ here is the only digital picture I have of him....its very poor quality so I stuck it in my scraps.
