During a brief period after the Crystal version, there was a time when I was just uninterested in pokemon anymore. What brought me back? The story mode of Pokemon Colosseum. Playing as an anti-hero, capturing other people's Pokemon(albeit only the brainwashed Shadows) and it's so much easier to capture Raikou or Entei (until generation6)? Yes please!
In addition to all the Shadow Pokemon and your starting Espeon and Umbreon, the main human characters are your character, Wes, his plucky female sidekick that can tell regular and shadow Pokemon apart, Rui. And the head honchos of the evil organization, Cipher. These include the afroed Miror B, the brutish Dakim, the beautiful Venus, mad scientist Ein, and the head(?) of the group Nascour.

He's a Japanese artist. A roundabout description, but here it goes. Ariga's most recognized works are the mangas Megaman Megamix and Megaman Gigamix. In 2011, he started contributing illustrations to the Pokemon Trading Card game. His works eventually got the attention of the OG Pokemon Illustrator, Ken Sugimori; who asked Ariga to design new Pokemon. Ariga's contributions include but are not limited to Pangoro, Mega Beedrill, Alolan Geodude, Graveler, Golem and Ultra Necrozma.
I didn't realize it at first, but my picture in this submission was inspired by an illustration of Ariga's from Volume 3 of Megaman Gigamix
If you have a DA account, you'll find Ariga has a page there
