Commanding a empire of over 15 star systems is the race known as the Mojavo. They are a very proud and religious race, defended by their most dangerous zealots, and very passionate about their lives, their feelings, and their relations towards anyone. Long secluded, the Mojavo were discovered by a rift probe from the Ten Empires, where the Kannists developed an uneasy relationship with them. The Mojavo distrust strangers, but the Kannists hope that through trading and tribute, they can eventually develop such good relations with the Mojavo that they might prove a useful ally against the Renegades.
Description
The Mojavo are described as a race very kangaroo like in appearance, with digitigrade feet, five toes lined up in an arch shape, sharpened claws covering the tips of each metatarsal, well adapted for running as well as dancing. Their legs are muscular and bulbous, ideal for running great distances and jumping up to 12 feet in the air.
Balancing themselves with their thick, stiff, reptilian like tails, their wide hips curve upward to a slim torso with somewhat less muscular arms. At the end of their talons, however, they have sharpened claws that have the striking force of a grizzly bear. They can easily tear off flesh with those lethal weapons quickly.
Atop a thick neck is a round head with a broad snout, lined with sharpened teeth for tearing meat. Their sensitive noses are pointed with the nostrils facing the ground, similar to appearance as that of humans. Along the side of their heads are eyes tinted yellow, with vertical slits lit cat eyes slicing down. It’s long ears can move in many different directions to determine where sound is coming, much like a horse.
The Mojavo’s coarse fur color is a light red, with white and gray stripes going along the sides of their body and meeting up at where the snout is.
biology
General
Every Mojavo starts their life in an egg, which they incubate for about 4-6 months. When they finally hatch, they begin to start their life in the world. They reach adolescence at the age of 16 and reach full maturity at the age of 24. When in perfect health and eating a good diet, the Mojavo on average can live up to 180-195 earth years.
The mojavo’s sleek and powerful tails allow them to sneak in on unsuspecting prey quietly without being noticed, even in the dryest and rockiest of terrain. They can jump up to 12 feet in the air and cover 20 feet of distance with their powerful legs. Their jaws have a bite force of about 1100 lbs per square inch, allowing them actual decent biting strength to rend flesh and crunch bones when biting down, with teeth designed idealing for piercing and sawing away at their meat.
Their senses are just as superb as their body’s capabilities. Their ears can pick up sound from 500 yards away, and with the way their ears are designed, they can pinpoint where it comes from with enough training just by rotating them. Their sense of smell is about average, with the same sensitivity as a human. They rely more heavily on their eyes and their sense of touch to describe their world. Speaking of eyes, they see in color vision with a peripheral vision exceeding 180 degrees and can normally see something perfectly up to 50 feet. Cases of poor eye vision is usually rare, and is much rarer now with the understanding and perfection of the Mojavo genome. However, very occasionally will a mutation in the Mojavo gene result in a low level light vision, where they can see ideally in the dark in shades and hues of green or black and white, but they must wear eye protection during the day time.
The strangest of the Mojavo evolution is the development of poisonous sacs within their testes. On a PH Scale, the venom’s acidity is equal to 0.0000019. They’re immune to their own acids, but it does cause a nasty irritation to their skin if it makes contact. No one is quite sure, not even the Mojavo, how they suddenly developed the skill to spit acid from a separate sac in their testes, but it has been carried on in tradition to “piss” on a defeated enemy or creature to enforce their domination and shaming the one who’s been pissed on.
diet
The Mojavo are a race of carnivores, with quite a taste for anything of the flesh, from bugs to fish to even red meat. In their early years, the Mojavo were nomads and hunters who enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, but that unfortunately led to a quick diminishing of their food supplies. To this day now, they’ve settled to animal farming to provide all the sustenance they’ll ever need, while sustaining a balance with their own planet.
sexuality
Surprisingly, the Mojavo are in fact a race of hermaphrodites, where they are born with both sexes of male and female. Though they do not describe themselves as “He” or “She”, they distinguish themselves in ways that make them behave like either sex. For instance, a Mojavo can still have both functioning genitals and yet would prefer to be companions with more “female” versions of their species and vice versa, or they will actually be companions with either boys or girls or both. They distinguish their sexual preferences largely by how they dress as a culture, along with how they behave. Very feminine like Mojavo will dress more girlish commonly while more masculine Mojavo dress more like boys. Yet you could still have boyish Mojavo who like the idea of masculine companions and be companions with other males or boyish Mojavo.
Culture
Behavior
The Mojavo are extremely passionate people, who always make an effort to show a hundred-ten percent on whatever it is they devote their lives to. They are also very proud people, quick to anger, stubborn even. Quite aggressive, sports and much entertainment in Mojavo media and literature
is quite violent and stimulating. Therefore, their strength is not in things like diplomacy at all. Despite these flaws, the common folk and the lords practice modesty with each other, always smiling and kneeling, children are polite to their parents and each other as often as possible, but they can often forget themselves and get violent.
Language
Their script is a primitive form of cuneiform, where the language has not quite fully developed into actual words so much as glyphical encryptions of things, people and actions. There are little conjunctions, adverbs(though a verb can be emphasized through a synonym), or pronouns in the Mojavo tongue. It is largely composed of nouns, verbs, adjectives and other meaty pieces used in common sentences. Translators used by Kannists add these missing conjunctions and adverbs to make it sound less gutteral and primitive and more sophisticated.
Also, much like the Japanese system, characters can be combined to form other words. The cuneiform for faith can be combined with mouth to form the word “prayer”. The Kannists are surprised to actually learn that the name of Mojavo actually means in their language “Person,” which actually makes sense to some degree as during the first encounter, the Mojavo described both themselves and the Kannists as Cheen Mojavo, or “Lesser Person.” The Kannists were not sure whether or not to view this as insulting or complimentary, but when the Mojavo explained they view all as Cheen Mojavo, the Kannists acknowledged this identity.
Religion
The Mojavo are a very religious people, devout in the philosophy of faith, where the universe was created by Lenaya (Their cuneiform for “Deity”) and the Mojavo were placed on the planet of Coora (Their cuneiform for “World”) as Lenaya’s first and most beloved of children. The universe was then placed in the hands of the Mojavo to look after and protect the Cheen-Mojavo from danger and from themselves, if necessary, where they would be taught the ways of Lenaya and the Mojavo, the well-esteemed ones.
The Mojavo believe in an afterlife, where if one performs good deeds largely their entire life and is a good person for the most part of their life, their spirit is released to Lenaya Coora (Their cuneiform for “Deity World” or “Heaven”). If, however, they were a truly bad person, their spirt is sent to the Hool Coora (Their cuneiform for “Dark World” or “Hell”), where their spirit is thrown into an endless void where they cannot be heard, where they cannot see or speak, where they suffer from the endless falling, always falling and silently for all eternity. It’s as if they stop existing all together, only the fear of the void itself reminds them they are alive enough to suffer for all time.
Society
The society of Mojavo is largely ancient in many areas, as their religion has helped to slow the progression of what they deem as unnecessary. However, that doesn’t stop them from promoting the research of what can be truly useful, such as solar powered industrial machines to increase farming efficiency and spacefaring ships to protect themselves from the Cheen Mojavo. To hate something useful out of petty spite is just completely pointful, as states the teachings of Lenaya.
Much of the lower class is composed of farmers and servants, students and monks who are often called to duty when old enough by their goverment(If the family owns enough land to pay for a decent education for their children). In the middle of this pyramid are the artisans, merchants, teachers and guards that patrol the city. Above that are scientists, engineers and architects that design the buildings and ships, and the abbots who are responsible for the caring of convents and abbots throughout Coora and the Mojavo Empire. Above that are the Zealots, the Mojavo’s soldiers who are the front line defense against the Cheen Mojavo, and the Cardinals who govern the Church of Lenaya’s Individual regions.
And at the top of the Hiearchy is the Khalar Mojavo itself(Their cuneiform for “Faith Person”), who is the voice of Lenaya itself. He is the embodiment of enlightenment, the herald of knowledge and wisdom, and the shield of faith that protects all hearts of the Mojavo. To stare directly into the face of the Khalar Mojavo is considered a sin, as he is the avatar of Lenaya.
And that's all I got on the Mojavo. ;3 C&C well appreciated! ^.^
