Sometimes Game Freak and Nintendo do things that make no godforsaken sense with their shinies. I figured I'd run through lineages and give my take on how I'd improve shinies, if I had the power to.

Ever see a flame so hot it's blue? That's mostly the idea here, especially on the tail-flames. Call me a sucker for red and blue together, but I like the idea of a charmander getting so hot his scales stain darker and darker as it evolves. The culmination being the pitch black Mega Charizard Y, which follows the normal colors for charizard. Mega Charizard X aims for more of a 'death by nuclear fire' angle, the flame turning bright yellow-green and its scales ashy from the heat.
