Madeline went along with a crowd of angry townspeople. Instead of complaining like everyone else, she snuck in the back of Ferdinand's house. Madeline started to scoop up things, like jewelry, figurines, and a porcelain doll. She didn't have anything to put her new things in, so she held them tight in her wings. Just then, Ferdinand walked inside! He saw Madeline with his things, became angry, and they began to fight. She started to drop jewelry on the floor as Ferdinand chased her out of the den. In the front of the crowd was a little girl, who was crying over her lost doll. Once they both were outside, Ferdinand and Madeline dropped the porcelain doll in front of the girl.
